2018 Cincinnati Reds.

Well after over 30 years of following baseball I’ve finally decided to follow one team, that team being the Cincinnati Reds. Not going to bore you with how I decided on the Reds but it was due to history, not winning a World Series recently, I’m not a bandwagon jumper and never have been and what’s not to like when they have players with names like Scooter & Homer.

Just a warning to any Reds fans out there, I’m not a good luck charm it took the Packers and Celtics a few years to win a championship after I’d started following them and the Leafs haven’t won a Stanley Cup in my life, we live in hope though

According to BleacherReport (73-89), Fangraphs (71-91) and Rotochamp (72-90) it’s going to be about a 70 win season, although BleacherReport as them finishing above Pittsburgh in the NL Central basement battle.

I think Cliff Pennington is going to make the game as a backup infielder.

Going to be a long year...

I’ve seen his name on the depth charts as the back up for 2B, 3B and SS but the last roster update I saw didn’t have him on it.

Should only be a glove off the bench in later innings, one things for sure they’ll be in trouble if they need his bat in later innings.

I'm not exactly sold on Peraza's bat either.

Perfect thing would be for Nick Senzel to be a SS, sadly he isn’t.

He's played there some in spring training, though, right? Not sure how he's done there. They do seem to be against moving Suarez back to short, which I'm ok with. He's become a good defensive 3B.

According to the ESPN site they’ve dabbled with him at 2B & SS during spring training, pointing to him being brought up sometime during the season.

UK, I salute your interest in Major League Baseball. The Cincinnati Reds are a noble, venerable franchise so I salute your choice of allegiance.

Always liked baseball, started following it in 86 and for around 10 years I saw one full game Montreal Expos @ Chicago Cubs, one of the TV stations over here did an American day theme and that was on. Been hooked ever since, thankfully I don’t have to rely on static filled armed forces radio, highlights of a couple of games on a Saturday morning, relying on friends to tape games of cable and staying up till 7am to watch the end of a World Series game. Thankfully though ESPN broadcasts over here and with the addition of MLB tv I’m in baseball heaven compared to 30 years ago.

1 off the 25 man roster as Justin Nicolino was sent outright to the Louisville Bats 2 days after claiming him from the Miami Marlins.

Reading somewhere that the Reds are having a pregame happy hour, selling beer cheap outside the ballpark. By all accounts attendance as dropped from 2.5m in 2013 to 1.8m last year, I’m betting not breaking .500 in those years rather than beer price as something to do with it.

Good luck with the Reds. They've been down for quite a while, so maybe you'll get on board just as they turn it around. Opening Day is all about hope, right?

I had a list of what I wanted from a team and went down the list of MLB teams, if teams didn’t match up to that list then they got a strike, 3 strikes they were out. One of the questions was “had they won a World Series in the last 10 years” if they had it was a strike, the Reds were the last team standing.
