Off-Topic Discussions (e.g. Other Companies' Games)

This is already mentioned in the Posting Guidelines, but since many users apparently don't read it or forget what they read, I'd like to repeat it here in a sticky.

We do have an Off Topic board. You have to opt-in to it however. To find out how, read the section titled "Opting-In To OT" near the end of the aforementioned announcement. Before you do, you should read the two sections that bookend that one.

OOTP would like to reserve this General Discussions board for topics to do with the company, but not specific to a particular version. For example, discussions about other video games are particularly common, but OOTP would like them to take place on the Off-Topic board (and yes, OOTP knows many people would like them to do an American football game, but the chances of that ever happening are very slim). Occasionally us moderators will let an off-topic discussion go for awhile on this board, but sooner or later it will probably be moved to where it belongs. If you could try to start those topics on their appropriate board, that would be appreciated.

We also have a Talk Sports board where you are invited to talk about whatever sports topics interest you. Like the Off Topic board, you can find it at the top of the forum index. Unlike OT, however, you do not have to opt-in to it.
