Regions

Can I edit a region or create one? If so, how?

IIRC, it's in the world_default.xml file in the database folder.

This is a good thread to have a read through if you're planning on editing the World XML.

http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...le-edited.html

Regions can be created and edited in game now, however changes only apply to the selected league.

I added a lot of cities to one of the regions (Nova Scotia) and once I was done I saved the league as QS and TMPLT. That way if I want to start a new league using the edited region, I don't have to start from scratch again editing the region.

I'll check out that link in a sec...

I checked all over the place in the explore world menu from within the manager menus. I cannot look an edit Regions button from in-game.

My bad, you need to edit the World Xml for that.

You can edit individual states in game though, which make up the Regions.

Sorry for the confusion.

I like the idea of creating my own regions.

I got a league that started in Puerto Rico with 8 teams that has expanded to the Dominican Republic, Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Mexico.

A six-team mexican league merged with this league 3 seasons ago and the total is now at 20. I am using the Caribbean Region and it has been very good so far.

Next season there is a 2-team expansion to Cuba with a US team and a Puerto Rican team relocating to Cuba creating a 4 team Cuban division. At this point the 5 divisions will split to two separate league.

The problem is that the names are starting to get repetitive. Most importantly, though, in 4 years after that Cuban expansion I plan to expand 2 more teams in the US followed by two more US teams 8 years after that for a total of 8 US teams out of a league of 26. There just aren't enoguh Americans in the Caribbean region and I need more to reflect the changing times.

Also, the majority of the minor league that will soon be added will be in the US.

At that point I am going to take over a an expansion team and do a dynasty report on the league. I'd much rather be typing names that I am familiar with to help speed things along while typing.

Ok, if I understood the conversation in the link you provided then it appears that the region must be edited before starting a new league.

Does this mean that I can not edit the region I am currently playing? If so, I'll probably trst out the Western Hempishere region on a test league and see the distributions.

Thanks for your help.
