The Pennsylvania Professional Baseball Association (PPBA)

I would like to begin by expressing, to Markus, Andreas & company, a great "THANK YOU" for continuing to produce this fine game that has captivated me for over a decade now! I would like to also extend those sentiments to Questdog, Hankyu Braves, Koprnkc, Orcin and the many other authors of dynasty threads I have read over the years. Finally, to the many mod makers including knuckler, silvam14, cephasjames, gern44, and bobble (just to name a few) I extend the same thanks for all that you have done for me and the rest of the OOTP community!

Now I would like to offer a little background information before we get started on the narrative. The PPBA is a FICTIONAL league that is "somewhat" based on actual historic baseball events. There may be some overlap between real baseball team names and those of the PPBA, but this is only a result of the alternative baseball "reality" to be presented. Also, any resemblance of the fictional players to real, living, or otherwise individuals is purely coincidental. The only real name intentionally used is that of Vic Chestnut, the PPBA founder, commissioner, and my late great uncle.

So, without further ado, I present the...

Thanks Jax! I've literally been working on setting this up for over a month. I did a ton of research on the "Historical Beginning" and the cities I chose to host teams. I tried to base the nicknames on the historical background of each city. I will have a little write-up for each team shortly.

Thanks Peeler - love the avatar! I have 5 or 6 different parchment backgrounds. I want to mix them up so they don't get stale. I will also lighten them as we progress toward the present day. New paper is crisp and white

Thanks spleen! I find it totally tubular that you think my dynasty is gnarly. I also took the time to read the musings noted in your signature. You need to fire that league up and post some more - its great! Your presentations of the teams are exactly what I had in mind. Keep up the good work! Oh, and I really like the logo and uniform for the Scranton Scrappers

Nice start, this looks awesome. I'll be following along from the other side of the state, so I'm looking forward to learning more about the Susquehanna League.

As a prerequisite to the information presented below, please note that the city of "Redbank" does not actually exist. It is a fictional place named for a real area in western Pennsylvania. The name comes from the Redbank Creek that forms the boarder between Armstrong (to the south) and Clarion (to the north) counties. The counties and creek are real. There is also a very small town at the exact location on the team map (from a previous post), my home town, but I chose to name it after the larger area. The population data for "Redbank" is 50% of the actual total populations of the two counties.

No need to wait. The next post is all about the teams of the Susquehanna League.

This looks great! A while back I had a league set in Pennsylvania...I must have started it on OOTP 6.5. I thoroughly enjoyed it, and wish it had survived.

Have fun with your creation!

Thanks! I believe that is the version I started this league in also. I have restarted with each new version. I have altered teams names, cities and various configurations many times as well, but I keep coming back to the PPBA.

Letting those interested know that I'm just about ready to get the actual games underway. I have a few more tweeks to make with the league file then I'll get going. I will also be posting more info about team owners, ballparks, top players, etc. in a bit.
