Relief Pitcher Ratings

So I am playing a fictional game and I have noticed a lot of the relief pitchers in my game have very high stamina ratings. I use the 1-100 scale and I see a lot in the 60-70 range for stamina. I'm not using any scouts or coaches this time around.

Just not sure if this is the norm in ootp14 or if there is a setting I can alter so that more of the relief pitchers have normal relief pitcher stamina ratings (20-50 range).

You should sort relievers on the show all players tab to see how real this is. See below. The top 38 MR/CL in my league (top level) have suitably low stamina. As you get lower on the list stamina generally increases due to more failed starters in the pool.

Here are the top relief pitchers in my fictional game. Notice how high most of their stamina ratings are.

So I checked the "Overall rating based on all players, not positions" and that appeared to have made it better. There are actually more relief pitchers who are rated better.

Will enabling that hurt my game at all? I guess I've never really done research on that option.

That has no effect on the stamina rating. It may give you unusual ratings as you would have SS rated vs RF etc.

My previous suggestion was made to help you find out if the high stamina was in fact a majority in your relief pitching pool.

Edit

Oops I didn't see your screen shot. It seems that your pitcher stamina is just higher overall. This may have been set in general strategic settings and/or PCM.

Yeah. It's a majority in my relief pitching pool. I have just never seen it this crazy before.

What about general strategic tendencies and the modifier directly to the right.

Okay, I'm thinking it was because I wasn't using scouts and I just enabled scouts and everything looks better now.

So if one has a reliever with a high stamina rating, is it possible to convert that reliever to a starter? What if the "sugg. role" and "expected role" fields says "Bullpen" -- can you try even then?

If they have three pitches (or a knuckleball) it might be worth a try, maybe even if they have 2 pitches rated 20/20. Otherwise they probably wont be a consistently good starter.

For the 2-pitch starter, it may also help if they don't have a large platoon split. A fastball/slider reliever may get exposed badly by opposite handed hitters in a starting role, where a more neutral fastball/changeup reliever wouldn't.
