Historical game results
Starting in OOTP 15 I switched to using historical lineups for the first time and find my experience is far more enjoyable when it comes to replaying historical seasons (generally the only mode I play). I wonder if it would be possible to add a third option to the historical roster/historical lineup package, that being historical game results. I realize that this would be unappealing to some players, but would make seasons more realistic, which is what I'm always striving for. The lack of a "historical disabled list" results in injured players appearing in games in which they were historically unavailable. This generally isn't a big problem for position players but it impacts injured starters a great deal. Chicago's Rick Sutcliffe was 8-8 3.18 in 20 starts for the Cubs in 1985 and never appeared in relief, but the computer has used him as a reliever 16 times. It would also help avoid catastrophic seasons for players that historically performed at a much higher level. Shane Rawley of Philadelphia (13-8 3.31 in 1985) is 8-12 with a whopping 6.36 ERA, a total that would no doubt result in his being yanked from the rotation long before September, but historical lineups obviously keeps him in the rotation. Atlanta's Rick Mahler (17-15 3.48 in 1985) is 8-23 5.63, and has inexplicably appeared in 6 games as a reliever in a season in which he led the NL with 39 starts. What I really want in my season replays is to simply manage my team (Los Angeles) and impact only the results of my games against what historically happened in each season. It would be far more satisfying to me to have to play against historically great teams in the playoffs such as the 1984 Tigers and 1986 Mets than to find a team that historically finished a distant 4th place in their spot come playoff time.
