This suggestion thread is designed to collect suggestions for the next version of OOTP, on the following topic:
FaceGen Includes - Things that would improve the FaceGen feature Excludes - Uh, non FaceGen stuff Instructions We will use this thread to collect suggestions on the above topic. Later on, we hope to present this information back to the community in a way that would allow you to vote and prioritize certain features. If you would like to participate, here are the rules!
Suggestion What is your suggestion? Be as specific as possible; include the screen you're talking about, if applicable. Reason Why do you think this is important? Suggestion
The option, under Player and Picture Options --> Fictional Picture Options, to turn off FaceGen updates completely (in addition to the options 'Each Jan 1st' and 'Always if Needed'). This would effectively 'Freeze' every FaceGen pic. Reason This would help users to address any buggy FaceGen behaviour. I've recently had a series of FaceGen related crashes with a third party roster set which were difficult to resolve, for example, all related to FaceGen updates. This would also save on sim time. Priority Low, I suppose, although I've often wanted to disable FaceGen, at least temporarily. I feel a bit like a killjoy making this the first FaceGen suggestion. Sorry! |

Suggestion
A fully-functioning FaceGen built into the game that would allow you to manually alter faces and add hair. This would include the ability to submit an existing photo to be morphed into a FaceGen rendering. Reason The current FaceGen function doesn't always do a good job at portraying accurate face types. It would also be nice to be able to manually adjust the look of fictional players to the mental image one may have of them. As for the "photo-rendering" function, this would be useful in creating FaceGen versions of real players (which could then allow evolving hats/jerseys and aging) and even allow one to add themself into the game. Priority In the context of FaceGen itself, I would rate this as a HIGH priority. However, in the whole scheme of OOTP improvement, I'd say it's closer to MEDIUM. |

Suggestion: Utilize Chernoff Faces in FaceGen. Give power hitters sturdier jaws, players with good Eye... large eyes, of course. Strikeouts could make a man frown.
Reason: It would give the stathead crowd a reason beyond verisimilitude to look at player faces. Plus, it's just plain cool. Priority: HIGHEST OF THE HIGH. Okay, maybe not TOO high. But not super-low either. I'd like to see this more than, say, exploding scoreboards.

Allow import of facegen files for individual players' faces. For instance, if I had FaceGen and wanted Albert Pujols to look like Albert Pujols, I could scan his photo into FaceGen to create him. I could then, if I want, share this with the community, and make a face set that people could download. Reason Would allow for intriguing possibilities like having FaceGen versions of real players. This would still require that those who want to make the faces purchase FaceGen and would be lower-tech than actually having a face creation program within OOTP, so if Muzamba's suggestion above is not possible, this would be a good alternative. Priority Given no better or more complete alternative, I would consider this to be a HIGH priority for historical simmers who want the many benefits of FaceGen, such as changing uniforms and perhaps aging, that are not possible with pictures. It would help with immersion.

Suggestion
Home and Away uniforms. Reason Not a huge deal, but I think it would be relatively easy to add. It would be awesome to see your team's uniforms in the broadcast change based on whether the game was at home or away. Priority Low |

Suggestion
Allow FaceGen faces to override real photos, or to block the use of the general "photos" directory in a league/universe. Reason If, in a fictional league, you have a player whose name just so happens to match the name of a player whose photo exists in the photos directory, the game will not generate a face for him without jumping through some hoops. For example, I have a player in my fictional league named Roy Johnson whose picture is perenially of this guy. Priority High, as far as FaceGen stuff goes, IMO.

This goes along with my suggestion for womens leagues, have a flag on the player screen that show whether a player is male or female and have a seperate facegen for each. Reason People do womens league and have to turn facegen off. Priority High |

Allow non-uniformed personnel to have alternate clothing options on FaceGen Reason Personnel such as the Owner, Scouts and Doctor would not be in full uniform and should have an option to have on something as an alternative. Auto update option to update player photo when his/her morale status changes. Reason Tips me off sooner when something has gone wrong/right with a player quicker. Priority Medium __________________

Suggestion
Include Bobble's Facial Hair mod into the game with defaults at zero. Reason It's already there and available. I think most are already using it, but I might be wrong. Priority Low, but it'd be nice. Sidenote: I still use the Gloves Morale icons and think they're grrrrrrrrrreat!!

Suggestion (to add to what Stu and CTS said)
Home and Away uniforms. +++Plus as many alternates as possible Reason I'd like the home and away idea and would like to add a few things. I'd like to see alternates used like the Pirates of the late 70's or have a certain day be designated for a certain uniform. Kind of like a "throw back the clock day" so to speak. Also the ability to have non-players, scouts, and execs faces generated without caps or uniforms. (The ability to have a hair feature would have to be added here as well.) Instead a certain job title would "trigger" a certain attire. execs would have a suit and tie for instance, team doctors would have a team logo shirt, and scouts could have something like a Hawaiian shirt and sunglasses. Priority Low (seperate clothing aspect) to Medium ( home/away/alternates)

Suggestion
Add a mod for eyeglasses and sun glasses (even eye black) which would work the same as the facial hair mod. It would be nice if these could be selected in the player editor screen rather than random. Better yet, let the user select random or assigned individually. (Facial hair should work the same) Reason Nice cosmetic feature, historical players didn't wear contact lenses or have lasik surgery. Would add to the flavor of historic leagues. Priority Medium - low |

In the "beard frequency" configuration section, show a sample of each beard, so you can see which kinds of beards/mustaches you are editing. Reason Kinda hard to adjust the frequencies without this. Priority Medium |
