Umpires
I realize this has already been mentioned, but I'd like to put my own personal spin on it...
Suggestion: Have umpires with individual tendencies and personalities in the game. There would be a pool of umps for each league that would be randomly assigned to a crew for every game. (This way, you'd never know which umps you would get in a game!) Each ump would have a rating for eye, skill, and temperament. Eye and skill would be linked to experience, while temperament would likely be random. Umps with low eye and skill ratings would blow calls more often and those with a bad temperament would be quicker to eject players and coaches. And as was previously suggested, home plate umps would have their own unique strike-zone interpretation. Reason: They're basically already in OOTP. This would just give us the chance to "know" them a little better. Priority: I can't in good conscience call this a "high" priority feature, although I would really like it. I'll have to call it MEDIUM-LOW. |

Rain-Outs/Doubleheaders
Suggestion:
Games should occasionally be called due to rain/snow or other factors and the AI should then attempt to reschedule these games as doubleheaders. This rescheduling should also affect pitching rotation and player fatigue. Reason: Two words: REALISM and STRATEGY. Priority: Gotta say HIGH. I realize it may be difficult to create authentic schedules with doubleheaders and added games, but this is one of the most important real-life factors yet to be included in OOTP. |

From a non-forum user...
Suggestion My idea is that as the games progress, a new player created by the computer could be flagged as being the son (or relative) of a previous player. Of course, there are current players who are the sons or nephews of past players. This would be a small but nice addition to a sports game such as OOPT Reason Priority Medium |
