Suggestion
Ability to purchase contracts from independent leagues or foreign leagues

Reason
This happens all the time in real baseball. This is practically the only way for obscure indie league players to join a MLB organization, for the most part.

Priority
High

Suggestion
Ability to differentiate between the different types of leagues...perhaps a league mentality...this way a major league team is vastly different then an independent league team, winter league team, amateur team.

Reason
More realistic. This is just too difficult to do with all of the different parameters.

Priority
High

Suggestion
Have different types of contracts...major league, winter league, minor league with signing bonus.

Reason
This would allow the proper use of winter leagues

New and interesting stats like wOBA, FIP, ERA+, OPS+, batter BABIP, basically anything you see on Fangraphs.

Reason
Many stats-oriented blogs use these stats, and it would be very useful to be able to compare game players to real players using the stats. It would also add a new way of measuring one's players.

Priority

Win probability (graphs and stats)

Reason
Fangraphs is awesome, and it would be fun to see a massive swing your way when you hit a top of the 9th homer.

Suggestion:
Allow Ties

Reason:
Some international leagues and even MLB during spring training, allows a tie after 'x' innings.

Priority:
Medium (Realism) - Low (impact on gameplay)

Suggestion:
Allow purchase of player from lower independent league (similar to posting system)

Reason:
This is how players in real life are able to get out of the Independent Leagues, the major league team simply purchase them for a nominal fee (these deals are never rejected by player or team). To accomplish allow teams from a higher level league to purchase players from a lower non-affiliated team within their own country (this prevents MLB buying Japanese league players, but would allow MLB teams to buy guys from the Atlantic Association or Can-Am Leagues).

Priority:
Medium (Realism)

SUGGESTION - Allow more flexibility in determining which Box Scores and Game Logs are saved.

REASON - Unless I am missing something, I have a problem with my fictional league where I am playing in commissioner mode. I do not run a specific team and therefore don't have a "Human League". Because of this, I either can't save any Box Scores/Game Logs or I have to save them for all leagues which eats up disk space quickly. I don't need the box scores for my rookie league.

PRIORITY - Med/High (unless there is a current solution of which I am unaware.

Suggestion
Add awards won and All Star selections as a sortable category.

Reason
This is available on the HOF list in history, but isn't sortable. When electing players to the HOF, I like to view awards to see how dominant a player was during his era. It would be much easier if I could look at all retired players and search for most gold gloves, AS, and MVP awards.

Priority
Low

Suggestion:

Have the minors have inactive players. This would give you the best of both worlds, realism and an end to the grip about DLs. Sure there should still be DLs but at least if there were inactives you would be able to activate someone else.

Base Running

Return to one of the earlier versions which allowed manager control of cerain base running where the player is "taking the extra base" when playing the game. The AI cannot factor in such things as the strength of the outfielder's arm, number of outs, who the next batter is, etc.

Priority Medium.

Suggestion
Provide a complete model of rosters for major and minor leagues. Many other suggestions point in this direction. The need for this requirement really needs to be amplified. There needs to be for each team, major or minor, an associated roster of players who are not active for one reason or another.

Reason
There are many categories of player roster status that are not adequately modeled in the game. Spring tryouts and invitees for the majors, and in the minors, injured players are some. The minors need to have an inactive roster for players injured, or otherwise attached to the team, but not playing. Not only would this help with roster management, and the problem of too much player churning by the AI, it would help the game immersion player who wants to play as GM or manager at the minor league level.

Another important reason is for quasi historical game players, as it would provide a place to locate unsigned holdouts before the FA era.

Rules about the use of these inactive rosters, player counts by category, overall counts, etc. can be customizable.

Priority
High. The game needs this.

Suggestion
Allow the option not to annually create free agents for each parent or unaffiliated leagues

Reason
Allows the "lower class" leagues to absorb players from free agent pool, without over-inflating universe with too many players.

Priority

Suggestion
Create more league levels, with pre-configured modifiers and financials...such as REAL winter leagues (where players can be loaned or transferred temporarily to teams), Amateur (so users can actually sign amateurs, not only draft them (like DSL and VSL), Independent League, Historical Semi-Pro (historical feeder) and a whole class of other Historical Leagues (Historical Minor League = so "minor league" teams can be affiliated with more than one major league team, and can demote and promote and be affiliated with other teams from other leagues, and also have own finances)

Reason
This is a combination of many things that have been suggested MANY, MANY times in the past

Priority
VERY VERY High

I know its been said a million times (and I hope its gettting through), but here goes:

Suggestion - Player's Keep Their Numbers/realistic number assignments for pitchers vs position players

Reason - Every time I put a guy on the DL or change rosters in any way, his number goes up! It gets maddening for a guy who puts a lot of stock in who gets what number on my team to all of a sudden have him jump from #2 to #11 because he spent some time in the minors.

Perhaps a new option for each player would be a "preferred number", and if they change rosters and the preferred number is available, they take it. If it isn't, they get a new one.

Also, players on the 40 man roster should ALWAYS keep their number, regardless if they are in the minors/DL or the bigs. It would be so much easier to manage.

And one more thing, pitchers seem to get way too many single digit numbers. Can it be that when pitchers are generated, some number like 95% of them get numbers 10+?

Priority - for me, very high. but its a great aesthetic touch that plays a big role in baseball lore (and isn't that what we're trying to recreate here?)

Suggestion

This is more in the nature of a correction than a new feature. The addition of the pitcher to the seven day lineup screen created some side effect problems that need fixing.

Reason
There is a conflict between the rotation screen and the seven day lineup pitchers. If the player does not reload the seven day lineup after 7 days the seven day lineup overrides the rotation and pitchers are started in an errant and often harmful way. For instance if the Monday pitcher goes again on Saturday of the first week, and the seven day lineup is not adjusted, he will again go on Monday and Saturday of the second week. The 2 days from 1st Saturday to 2nd Monday is a big problem for pitcher health.

This problem seems to arise because, unlike for the field players, the pitcher use does not have the option of being cleared after each day is played.

Another offshoot of this problem is that if the player changes the rotation on the pitching screen, but doesn't remember to go to the lineup screen and refresh the seven day lineup, the rotation changes will have no effect.
There needs to be a way to update the pitching part of the seven day lineup directly from the pitching screen.

Priority
High. Its a bug.

Suggestion
Provide the seven day lineup screen with a second game to be used for double header days. (Obviously not crowded into the current screen, but on a secondary tab or such.)

Reason
So that players of solo or online leagues that want to simulate the eras that had many double headers can schedule in reserves and 2nd game starters for double headers, etc.

Priority
Low.
