OOTP10 Suggestions: Game/League Setup Options

Resizable frames or windows during the in-game view.

Reason
Allow the solo player to set the size of the field and all stat windows exactly as they want, with font sizes customizable for all elements. Also allow customization of exactly what stats are displayed.

High. Major missing drawback when playing with a large monitor. Strat-O-Matic has this kind of customization.

Suggestion
Simple in-game player editor that allows you to edit an entire roster at one time.

Reason
Roster development is the biggest remaining flaw of OOTP. We have the ability to import every team or player in history. Imagine if you could import the most current season of Lahman, view a team's entire roster, and edit each player and field in a display like Excel. Quick data entry and tweaking all in one window. Must be able to enter actual stats instead of ratings. Also allow the ability to use modifiers for projected future performance of individual players.

High. We all wait forever for modders who must spend tremendous amounts of effort. Everything else about this game is amazingly customizable; why not the most fundamental of all, the stats?

Give us the option to select the Hall of Fame nominees from a list of eligible candidates.

This calls even more attention to this important date and makes it more interactive for us.

Customizable amounts of foul territory in stadiums. Either simple choices such as "low, medium, or high;" or as advanced as having a 1-10 scale.

Reason
One of the biggest individual features of a stadium is its relative amount of foul territory. Places like Oakland Coliseum have so much, and places like the Baker Bowl had so little; it has a real effect on hitting and pitching results; this is a characteristic which should be figured into stadium factors. There could be more chances at fouls-caught-for-outs on foul balls in a stadium with a lot of foul territory.

Include national teams, and international competitions. There a multiple international competitions these days ranging from the Olympics (possible chance of re-inclusion for 2016), the intercontinental cup, the world cup and of course the world baseball classic. I would like to see a structure similar to that of football manager, where nations can call up players for fixtures and competitions.

International baseball is only going to get bigger in future, and i would like to see a reflection of this in the game. Plus it would be very cool to manage nations through international competitions, personally this feature for me would turn a very good game into a perfect game.

For playoffs, allow user to determine home/road for each game instead of only having the 7 options available.

More flexibility to playoffs, use formats not available in game like 3-1-3 or alternating home/road for every game.

Suggestion:
Allow Minor League contracts to have the built in inclusion of a signing bonus.

Reason:
This is a very big part of baseball and as its currently set up minor league contracts have zero cost to the team signing a player on one. Im not suggesting that this needs to be used for draft picks, it could,or you could just use it in a slotting system. But this needs to be done for signing major league players, it would be a huge, huge addition to that part of the game and would get me more interested in pursuing players in the FA market. It would only work of course if this was only an option for very marginal ML players on the FA market and young players who have a bunch of potential but arent there yet.

The biggest reason id want this however, is to recreate the Amatuer FA market. The signing of International players espececially from Latin America. This, to me, is by far the biggest element of Real life that is missing from the General Managing of a OOTP team. In reality, this was also used for a while as the only means to acquire amatuer players before the amatuer draft was instituted, so for all those history buffs, this would be a huge addition to that aspect of the game. I really think that this would add a whole other dynamic to the game that would be awesome. I've been trying to recreate this aspect of the game for a while now in OOTP 9, but its really impossible to come close to doing this without the ability to add Bonuses to Minor League contracts.

Super super high, if there wasnt anything else to added to the game, id buy OOTP 10 just for this.

Suggestion:
The sub templates to create a realistic Latin American baseball world with seperate leagues run by academies and all of them set up so that the players are done in those leagues by the age of 17. Also set up MLB controlled Dominican Summer League teams and Venezuelan Summer League teams, just like another rookie ball level lg filtering into the Majors.

Reason:
This could be created by the User in a user created world, but it would be very nice if the second part of this was built into the quick start MLB. The first part would also be nice, but of course this suggestion isnt nearly as important as the one above this.

My suggestion is something similar to this but. I want the option to create a universe, with teams from different countries. The players available to draft for that country, can only be from that nation.

The current setup only places the league itself in one nation, each team should have the option of having their own nation.

Have specific name files, world files, custom jerseys and other customized files for specific years reside with the league directory.

This would allow the user to setup the whole arc of the league before it begins without having to change the default world and name files.

During custom setup by the player there are many operations on the database as a result of options chosen. If subsequently the player then goes with other options not all the results of the first option are cleaned up. Later the game may crash or produce other bad results.

Examples:
The player initializes a major league with no minors. The roster and reserve roster is filled with players. Later a minor league is added. The game does not assign the reserve roster players to the minor league. Instead they are locked in database limbo. They are inaccessible (unless the major teams are reset to have no affiliations, when they will magically reappear). The strange thing is the life that continues for these invisible players sometimes spills into the world with strange messages about contracts requests, retiring, etc. Not sure that they aren't being paid while they are in ghost mode.

If spring training is turned on and later the league schedule start date is changed, the spring training will not be synced with the schedule. Leaving either a bigger gap, or running over the regular schedule depending on whether the start date was set back or ahead.

Some of the mess is not all in the database so much as in abandoned files. Because the game insists on prefilling leagues with city names and creating corresponding graphic files, when the user modifies these names to those desired the graphic is wrong, and if it is rebuild, the old file is left. This is in addition to some vestigial database junk left with the original randomly picked names.

Prefilling new teams with staff / setting player and staff contracts which is then followed by the player making changes in financials leaves another mess.

And there are more examples of results of not cleaning up the database to properly reflect changes in settings.

Some of these need to be corrected by proper automation. Some should be left to the player, such as the timing of adding/deleting staff or players to a league, assigning contracts, etc.

Adding another factor for setting this fix request to high priority--

The failure to follow through in cleaning up the database when coaches is turned off, which is common for online leagues, and often turned off by solo players, results in elevated injury levels. Although coaching is off, some of the program coding still examines the team trainer ability in calculating injuries. Yes, the trainer is still there in the database even though the game player has set coaching off. But eventually the 'hidden' trainer leaves/retires. With the position unfilled the team injury counts and severities takes a big jump.

SUGGESTION: Under League Setup, you should be able to set maximum ages for affiliated minor leagues. Currently you can only do so for unaffiliated minors or for parent leagues.

REASON: Real life, and common sense. In real life lower level minors do have de facto age limits, though they're expressed as limits on years of service. Rookie leagues are limited to age 20 max, Short Season A leagues to age 22, and Single A leagues to age 24. AA and AAA have no maximum ages, but there's no reason you shouldn't be able to set one in the game, or to alter the limits for lower level leagues.

PRIORITY: high. This is just common sense, and it should be a quick fix

SUGGESTION
Allow for import/export of full teams and/or systems from one universe to another.

REASON
This would allow for three things. One would be a 'World Championship/WBC' scenario (or whatever tournament-style flex you wanted, within the scheduling limits). The other would be some great opportunities for users to swap teams for fun to see which team is 'best'. And finally, it would allow for multiple online leagues to form a rough confederation once per season/year/whatever time frame to do a 'best of best' series.

The possibilities are far reaching, and it would make the online world incredibly flexible (and realistic - what if a team leaves one league for another? ), as well make single-player scenarios far more robust and creative.

High for me. I've skipped this year's version despite the fact that it looks much nicer. I'm waiting for a more flexible 'world baseball' scenario through either means similar to that which I've suggested (if that's feasible) or a combo of what others have said (MogulChamp, etc.). I'm a 'lifer' if that kind of flexibility arises in the game. Thanks for reading.
