This suggestion thread is designed to collect suggestions for the next version of OOTP, on the following topic:
Tools and Functions Includes - Any tools or functions used in the game, such as the almanac, backup functions, resetting salaries, etc. Excludes - Online-specific tools should go in the online thread Instructions We will use this thread to collect suggestions on the above topic. Later on, we hope to present this information back to the community in a way that would allow you to vote and prioritize certain features. If you would like to participate, here are the rules!
Suggestion What is your suggestion? Be as specific as possible; include the screen you're talking about, if applicable. Reason Why do you think this is important? If this is to correct what you perceive as a problem in OOTP 2007, what is that problem? Be as specific as possible. Priority In your opinion, how important is this suggestion? High (MUST have), Medium (should have), Low (nice to have)) Handy Cut-and-Paste Suggestion Form: Suggestion Reason Priority Thanks for participating! Steve |

Suggestion
There should be an Export/Import Stats feature for retired players. Reason There is currently no way to fix stats for retired players that are in error. (Due to use of the CATO import function or other version to version mixups) Priority Medium (should have) |

Suggestion
Allow the player to enter stats instead of ratings when using the player editor. If the stats need to be incontext, have the player enter the year that the stats are coming from. Reason Entering the ratings by trial and error to get the correct stats is very combersum. Priority Medium |

Mass Delete function
Suggestion
some kind of mass delete function with definable parameters. For example, delete all Free Agents with less than 10 ABs or IPs and less than 25 potential rating based on OSA Reason Helps manage the ever growing FA's pool. Priority Medium.

Suggestion — Add a 'mass select' function to the game.
Reason — Many, many of the things that need to be done in this game involve repetitive keystroking. Examples include editing players, editing ball parks, editing team finances, setting game situation options, setting player variations off of the game situation options, deleting players (as mentioned by koohead above), and 'retiring, releasing, promoting and demoting' (as suggested by The Wolf in a thread in the general forum). There are several other things that could be done with mass select, but that should be enough to motivate you. Priority — Medium (should have been in the game since 2007… or earlier)

Suggestion
Allow the commissioner of an online league to define *.csv files that non-commissioners in the league are permitted to generate from within the league file. Reason I think it would be really nice for the commish to give league members access to some of the great tools that the game provides, but the commish should be able to turn off certain reports that may contain more accurate ratings than the commish would want GM's to see. Priority Medium - would really be nice to have

Suggestion
An option to not only set a "Minimum Years For Free Agency", but a "Minimum Age For Free Agency" as well. Both could be used in conjunction or seperate. Reason Some professional leagues go by age OR accrued seasons Priority Low |

Suggestion:
In the game generated SQL files, the DROP TABLE command should check to see if the table exists before trying to execute. Reason: I'm working on some SQL web utilities, and you have to manually create all the tables before using the game generated files or they error out. It'd be quite simple to add an IF EXISTS clause to the statements so that the error is avoided. Priority: Low, but should be quick and easy to do.

Suggestion:
Under Game Setup | Almanac Options, either add a section for daily data dumps, or change the monthly options to ''data dump every [nn] [periods].'' It would be ever so much more helpful to include a date-string in each file's name. E.g., ''team_record_2009JUL01.csv'' Reason: I'm working on a SQL Server utility that needs daily imports of a few CSV files. Currently I have to sim a day, export CSV files, then run my importer... repeat next day. Should I ever forget to export/import for a day, there'd be gaps in my SQL data. Priority: Low for everyone except me.... |
