Expansion Draft
I don't know if this has been brought up, but the expansion draft feature in OOTP needs to be dramatically improved in order to mimic the latest major league baseball expansion drafts. Even Baseball Mogul has a better expansion draft feature. In real life after each round teams are allowed to draw back more players, however, in OOTP there is one pool and that pool doesnt change the entire draft process.

cool
I just added a post for the same reason. I trade away high priced veterans to get young prospects and draft picks. Then I end up losing many of them. If I add 2 teams, I guarantee I will lose 8 to 10 players. Others may lose 1 or 2. It doesn't matter if there's 12 teams or 24 teams, I seem to get nailed all the time. The last time, I traded away every player I had, who I wasn't protecting, for draft picks. I figured I should get something before I lose them for nothing. I totally agree with you.

The one thing that should be done—and I've already made a detailed suggestion on the topic—is for the expansion draft procedure to change so each existing club gives up the same, or nearly the same, number of players in the draft. Currently no such provision exists in the game's rules. I think the problem arose because the expansion draft was treated as being like the amateur draft, so each expansion draft round only consisted of a number of picks equal to the number of expansion teams. In reality the number of selections in each round of the expansion draft is equal to the number of existing teams. Once each existing club has lost one player, then that round of the expansion draft is over. The number of rounds in an expansion draft can be calculated this way: Number of players to be drafted by each expansion club times the number of expansion clubs divided by the number of existing teams. Any fractional result is rounded up to the next whole integer. An eight-team league expanding to ten clubs where each expansion club selects 36 players means a total of 72 players will be drafted. 72 divided by 8 existing teams 9. So the total number of rounds in the expansion draft is nine. Each round consists of eight selections, four by each expansion club. In each round each existing club would lose one player. Each existing club would have given up nine players to the draft once completed.

I also posted this under "OOTP 12 - General discussions", but maybe here is the correct place:
As I love to play historical leagues and have a team season after season (until I lose interest and start all over again with another team), here is what I would like to have: Let's say I take over the 1969 expansion San Diego Padres - if I understood another post correctly, right now I would have to sim the 1968 season, then take over the Padres, do the expansion draft and go from there. It would be great if I, after selecting a historical league and, like in this example, the San Diego Padres and the year 1969, could choose when to start. I would like to be able to start in the summer of 1968 and while the baseball season runs in the background, I could start to hire managers and coaches and prepare for the expansion draft. As I said in previous posts, I currently play OOTP10 and will skip 11 and continue with OOTP12 ... maybe it's already in OOTP11 ??

I would like to be able to do that in my Endor League, My league is fictional Historical, But I eventually take over an expansion team in 2019, but all my draft picks were done during the 2018 season...I might be wrong on this but I had thought that the 1st yr that the Kane County Cougars were under Florida Marlins was 92 not 93.
