Steroids!
OOTP currently features suspensions for "failing a drug test", however it's basically just a randomized player selected (with personality ratings apparently factored in).
I'd like to see actual steroid usage in the game, with it evident in ratings. So if I have Barry Bonds and his power jumps from an 8 to a 10 in one offseason, it's as much cause for concern as it is for celebration. This could add a whole new dynamic to the game, and then drug test suspensions would be applied to teams who have actually benefited from the steroids use - rather than teams just randomly losing a player who is no better or worse than they'd be otherwise. If you wanted to take it one step further, steroids could also factor into prolonging a player's career (or shortening it once they've stopped using). |

uuh... honestly I really wouldn't want that at all...
That stuff is just not baseball... so I don't see why OOTP should simulate it... Like I don't want OOTP to simulate stuff like Scott Boras, or Manny being Manny, or a fan throwing beer at an outfielder as he catches a fly ball, or neighbours building bleachers on their roofs and selling tickets to your games, or Nick Adenhart getting killed by a drunk driver, or Josh Hamilton having drug addiction problems... Just the same way, in my opinion, this suggestion is taking it a little too far, it just wouldn't be fun... I mean we can simulate the increased power of the Steroid era by changing game settings, but do we need to simulate congressional hearings and Mitchel Reports? In one question, do we want to actually include steroid use as if it were really part of the game of baseball? I don't think that's fun at all, it's not the part of baseball that is fun... If that option existed, I would deactivate it by default. |
