Free Agents from Other Leagues

I'd like to see a small tweak to the Free Agents from other leagues options.

Right now, it can be toggled on/off only during the pre-season.

What I'd suggest would be a bit more indepth, allowing for options, and different times for FA's.

My thinking comes from this:

In my league, I have MLB with full minors and feeders. I also have a few international leagues (Japan, Korea, Cuba, Caribbean). Now the theory behind my leagues were for the best to migrate to the MLB eventually.

What is happening, in actuality, is that the best players are moving to the MLB. However, they are being signed in August and September when their former leagues are finished, rather than in the MLB offseason FA period.

I understand that the MLB free agency period refers only to MLB free agents and the foreign free agents are free to sign anywhere, if their "leave the league" option is toggled on.

What I'd suggest would be for each league to be able to, if they select "allow free agents from other leagues", select some default dates to allow foreign FA's to enter, like "all year", "off-season", or "preseason". I image using a calendar to select certain dates (like Sept. 1-Nov. 1) would be a bit more troublesome, rather than certain set periods of time.

I think this would allow free agents a better chance of staying in their own leagues with a small migration of FA's to other leagues, in this case MLB, which has more $$ to spend and higher salary levels than its foreign counterparts.

If not setting a certain dates, I'd like the option to have "allow free agents from other leagues" to be able to be toggled on or off during the season, not just the preseason.

I'd like to see this changed also. In my orig MLB vs EBL I had players sign with MLB in August and September play in the World Series, then come back to the EBL in October.

In my new version I plan on having a 3 day window to sign players from the other league if the deal isnt done in those 3 days I am turning the option back off.

I would like the game to have an automatic 2 week window to sign players from teh other league, if u dont sign in 2 weeks u stay in your current league.

Sounds like you came up with an automated (somewhat) solution for peopler to include the WBC, and allow players to migrate from the MLB, to the WBC, and back again. I've never seen players go back to their original league, unless they fail to re-sign a new contract after their latest one is up.

oh, and if you put it in OTD, well it just might get hijacked. It's just something you assume and accept. The gay marriage thread is currently about religion, gravity / theories on the creation of the universe, empiricism, and my little pony. - Prodigal Son

What I do, and I know it isn't the ideal solution, is make sure that my leagues all end their seasons on the same day. It solves the problem.

However, BostonRS14's request would be a better option if it could be made available.

I just had a problem of a trade between my 2 leagues, which i didnt want to happen. I turned off the option for players to leave from my new league but not from MLB. My EBL started their season June 1st and ends about the same time as MLB so i will be able to turn the option off for both leagues eventually.
