Pitch information and playing through injury
First off this game is great, just a few suggestions for next year.
How about having pitch data for your pitchers ie percentage of fastballs thrown or curveballs etc. Also how many were thrown for strikes for balls for a particular pitch. Also pitch velocity for every game and average velocity, so if a pitcher is in a rehab assignment after an injury, you can see if his velocity has dropped or if he is maybe injured. Also leads me to another suggestion, have players hide injuries or try to play through injuries. So you have to notice if his velocity has dropped and you have to tell the team doctor to check the player out. Great game guys already lost a lot of sleep thanks to ootp 12. |

Great suggestions. I like the idea of detailed velocity and pitch information, especially since I play out all of my games. I already try to monitor velocity to get a since of how tired pitchers are, but I think with injuries and rehab, or hidden injuries, something more specific and accessible could add another dimension to immersion and evaluation. I certainly would like to see the information for various pitches as well so we could better assess whether or not a pitcher has their "stuff" on that particular day.
With that said, I really like the idea of hidden injuries, the possibility of inquiring about a player's health, and sending them for a check-up. For instance, just this year, both Aroldis Champman and Ubaldo Jiminez come to mind. They both pitched through injuries and suffered great losses to their velocities and performance. Perhaps the game could mimic this by having a stud pitcher like Ubaldo who gets shelled for 4-5 outings and has atypically slow velocity. After seeing this as a manager, you could inquire about his health and have him checked out. Perhaps catching this early could mitigate the chance of significant injury, and alternatively, letting it go without inquiry could result in a greater chance of long term injury or damage to ratings. I suppose this feature could be optional. I don't know anything about the coding aspects. Again, great suggestion! I love the idea of hidden injuries, and also injuries that can accumulate over time. Also, let me suggest one other feature along these lines. I can't think of any concrete examples, but I was thinking about the following scenario. Say, for instance, that it is August and a pitcher can play through a nagging injury or forego the remainder of the season and opt for surgery. I would like to have this option. It could be a very strategic decision based on whether your club is in contention, in which case you may be more inclined to forego the surgery until the season concludes. On the other hand, if your team is out of contention, perhaps you could opt for immediate surgery in hopes that your pitcher can recover to play at some point the following season. |
