Need easier methods to import and edit players

I have been trying for a few days now to get all the updated players into my online league database. When I imported my online league from 11 into 12, it gave me the updated ratings for all players we had but it didn't add any of the new players that Markus and co. added with the patch. With our timeline, we haven't started the 2011 season yet in OOTP, so one question I have is, Do I need to actually start the 2011 season before the new Rookie league players show up or do I need to manually add them? If the answer is the 2nd, then that begs my next suggestion: We need a much easier way to import players, especially new players who don't have Lahman IDs yet. I have tried adding them through CSV files and text files and they never show up even when I re-import the files over and over again. The same with editing player stats: They never get edited through the CSV or text files properly. These are two areas where Diamond Mind Baseball has OOTP's number, and I think a baseball sim like OOTP that is VASTLY superior in every other way to DMB needs to step it up a few notches and show DMB what it means to be the baseball sim on the market!

To answer one of my own questions, I started the 2011 season and none of the new players showed up. I then simmed to the current date (Monday the 11th), after the Rookie Leagues' schedules had kicked in, and still no new players. What is the easiest method to import new players, i.e. players with no Lahman IDs, into an existing league? I tried using the Baseball Reference ID numbers but they didn't work, either.

Is there any way to add some sort of indexing system through a patch that will allow us to import any player from any league or quickstart we have created, regardless of the Lahman ID?

I duz not know what sorta file you are importing from but if you format it as a Lahman compatable file you can assign your own Lahman ID's in the external file and import your additions that-a-way.

That is how the Spritze and Gambo db's work so no reason you can't do it yourownself.

I exported the rosters to text files then imported them into Excel and moved the players onto their new rosters for our league's purposes. Then I re-saved them as text files. But that didn't work so I tried copying and pasting from one text file to another and that didn't work either.

Is the Lahman format the same format as the exported text files when you export rosters, or do I need to add some cells when I import into Excel? Thanks.

Actually it is Lahman-OOTP format and you'll see samples of them in the Stats folder. ALL columns are necessary and you'll need to make Master, Batting, Fielding and Pitching csv's at a minimum.

Ok thanks. I'll give that a shot.
