Formatting For Statistical Leaders
I have a feature suggestion that has been on my mind for a couple of months.
On Baseball-Reference.com (possibly the greatest website in the world) leaders in statistical categories are marked by boldfacing/italicizing the statistic on a player's page. Have a look-see at Wally Moon's Baseball-Reference.com page here: Wally Moon Statistics and History - Baseball-Reference.com You can see that he led the National League in OBP in the 1961 season (note that the statistic is simply boldfaced). In 1959, Moon shared the MLB lead in triples (this statistic is both boldfaced and italicized). Active leaders in a given statistic have their numbers italicized at the bottom of their table while career leaders have their statistic bookended with two asterisks (see Hank Aaron's page here for an example of his career total base record: Hank Aaron Statistics and History - Baseball-Reference.com). I think this would be a great feature to add to OOTP. Perhaps it wouldn't add much value, but it would be interesting to stumble upon a player from 50 years ago and discover that he lead the AL in double plays grounded into. What do you folks think?

Why did you choose Wally Moon out of anybody? I'm perplexed by the decision based on the fact that
A) He's now 81 years old and not a hall of famer B) He only has a couple of highlighted statistics as opposed to an Albert Pujols or somebody (also on the Cards) In terms of the suggestion though? I think it's a fantastic idea. I also think the Awards should be listed in an easier to read manner, but I guess that's kind of a separate issue. Good idea man. |

Hah! Interesting observation. Wally Moon happened to appear on the front page of Baseball-Reference.com when I composed my original post. So, I selected him on a whim.
I agree that the way awards are displayed should be revamped. Right now it is cluttered and difficult to navigate through, especially when the player is a superior athlete. Moreover, in addition to awards I'd like to see single-season and career milestones tracked and displayed on a player's accomplishment page. It would be nifty to see a line on someone's history that looks something like this: Quote:
