Split Season process...

Too late to make a fix in v12, but hoping this can be looked at for v13...

Uncovered an error with the Split season process that needs to be checked out.

In playing out my 210 game season of the PCL for 1905, I decided to try the split season format. In effect, the game chose the wrong second half winner.

As far as the replay goes, I can't fix the chosen team, so I will have to "pretend" the wrong team actually won the second half by an extra game... more important to continue the replay than let the error mess it up for me.

Here's the two season half's...

Tacoma 62 43 .590 - 1st half winner
Oakland 60 45 .571 2
Seattle 56 49 .533 6
Los Angeles 52 53 .495 10
San Francisco 46 59 .438 16
Portland 39 66 .371 23

Oakland 56 49 .533 - Should be 2nd half winner
San Francisco 56 49 .533 -
Seattle 54 51 .514 2
Los Angeles 54 51 .514 2
Tacoma 50 55 .476 6
Portland 45 60 .429 11

The game chose San Francisco as the 2nd Half winner even though Oakland had a 12-8 record against them second half and 23-17 overall.

I would have liked to see a playoff for the second half winner, but even without it, Oakland should have won it based on team-to-team results.

Addendum...

Thinking on this a bit more - in addition to correcting the error above, would like to see each daily standings restarted for the second half of the season. Maybe the the first half should be frozen and listed first, followed by the second half - and a "final" seasonal total when the season is complete.

Tiebreaking is an issue I've been on about for years. There should be some base measure of customization allowed to the user. (E.g. always a playoff game if it affects the post-season in some way, as in seeding order; only a playoff game if a playoff berth is at stake; or never a playoff game, non-game tiebreakers are used. The rules for non-game tiebreaking should be clearly laid out and visible. There are a variety of rules used in real leagues, and the best of those can be adopted into OOTP.)

Split-season standings I've also been on about for years. The user should be able to select between first half standings, second half standings, and overall standings.
