I think all playoff level games should have a game writup regardless if it was interesting or not - the fact they are playoff games is enough to get a writeup.

I'd love to help out but isn't there a more fundamental problem at play that has to be handled at code level first?

All of the stories (as of v11; I don't have v12 yet) are player based - there are no team based stories. There are news stories that accurately describe what a single player did during a game, but there are no resumes of games as a whole. There are no stories for team accomplishments (longest win/loss streak; most runs in a game).

It hints that there is more at play than simply writing up text and plugging it in.

"Game" stories need to be written from the game log, describing the progressing of scoring - mentioning key players involved - then summarizing team performance in the last 10 games, then position in standings. Maybe a closing statement about the next scheduled game (regular season) or playoff standings if post season game.

Markus has to code in the support for the necessary tokens that are used in news stories in articles, yes. But then someone has to write those stories. And to avoid the same story being repeated too often (with just the name of the player or team changed) there needs to be plenty of base stories written.

This has been discussed before by the beta team. But as I recall it'd be a major coding challenge for it to create stories that way.

I think the biggest issue is making sure that the stories are all fresh. I mean, it gets kinda pointless to see the same story show up week after week - where the text is the same but the names and numbers change.

While it'd be a great touch, what about doing something along the lines of a game summary? For example, list the top three players on each team based on their game scores, give a brief synopsis of the scoring innings, etc. That way you'd have something to work off of with regards to doing writeups. I used to do writeups for my own league (that I post in the dynasty section), but it got to be too cumbersome and I was spending more time writing than playing!
