Two Ideas: Custom Playoff / Creating Fictional League (Minor League Setup)

1) Not going on this that much as I have read other post about it. That is to have more control over the custom playoff options. Allowing bye and such.

2) I know for a couple of online league this would be gone and save some commish some small work. It promotion / relegation leagues. Its hard to have minor league system as each league has to have their own minor league system. After each season, you have to move the major league team and minor league teams to the right league and minor league(s) [If you have multiple minors]. I would like to see the option of have 2, 3, 4 major leagues or whatever number of league you have in you ootp world. I would like to see one a Triple A, one Double A, one Single A, and one Rookie League for all major leagues in ONE.

So instead of having:
ML1
ML1 Minor (AAA)
ML1 Minor (AA)
ML1 Minor (A)
ML1 Minor (RL)
ML1
ML2 Minor (AAA)
ML2 Minor (AA)
ML2 Minor (A)
ML2 Minor (RL)
ML3
ML3 Minor (AAA)
ML3 Minor (AA)
ML3 Minor (A)
ML3 Minor (RL)
----------------------------------
I want something like

ML1 (10 teams)
ML2 (10 teams)
ML3 (10 teams)
AAA (30 teams - one from each major league team)
A (30 teams - one from each major league team)
AA (30 teams - one from each major league team)
RL (30 teams - one from each major league team)

On a similar note I would like to see the ability to move a major league team from one division/league to another and have all their minor league teams move with them to the corresponding minor league/division at the same time.

All of this really goes back to wanting automatic promotion and relegation.

I would LOVE to have this feature added to OOTP 13.

Why would you want the minor league affiliates to change leagues? All that matters for affiliates is that the major league parent club have an affiliate at each appropriate minor league level for development purposes. Moreover, promotion/relegation is about the club moving up or down based on its performance. Why should the minor league affiliate be penalized/rewarded for its parent club's performance? That's antithetical to the entire point of promotion/relegation.

More generally, using minor league affiliates with promotion/relegation doesn't really make sense anyway, at least in regards to how real world promotion/relegation leagues work. I think perhaps there is a misunderstanding about what a promotion/relegation system really represents.

Right, let me clarify how I'd like this to work in my fictional baseball universe.

The way I structure all of my fictional leagues is by having a parent club (the ML team) and a "reserve" team (my Triple-A affiliate). When I draft or sign a new player, I assign them to my reserve team. If they develop into a legitimate major league player, then I promote them to the big leagues.

That my reserve team plays games is inconsequential to me. They could practice all day and I wouldn't care. It is simply a development league to me.

Thus, I consider the parent club and its reserve team to be the same entity.

Therefore, in the event the team got promoted or relegated, I would like the reserve team to be moved along with it.

Does that clear up your confusion?

If that's the case, why not just use the reserve roster and skip having an affiliated minor league? Then you could promote and relegate your major league team without having to worry about the minor league affiliate.

This.

The reserve roster improves/declines players at the same rate as players playing in competitive leagues without the hassle of having to re-arrange two teams at a time.

I am ashamed that I did not know about this.

Thanks for letting me know about that, it will certainly improve my simulation speed.

thats why I wanted to be able to link more then one parent league to a minor system. That way you would not have to worry about moving the minor league affiliates around with the major league team to the correct position. I do not like the reserve roster, as I did know they still develop the same as if they were playing in a minor league affiliate team. I just like to see stats as well to give you a better understanding and it help when it comes to trade talk. I would love to have this in the new game.

Hockey does it lets say the Albany Red Birds Devils/Islanders meaning both Teams will send a couple of Players to that team also that Team will have Gray Players you might be able to sign.
NBA does it to.

When a MLB Team Relocates by the Computer and lets say the New York Mets to New Orleans and theirs a Southeast division in your League the Mets would switch Division to.

Lets say the Palm Springs Angels gets purchased the by the Padres that means the Padres take over that Farm Team and the Angels have to find a new home for their Pitchers and Players to go to like say lake Tahoe Waters or lets say the Gwinett Braves contract is up with the Braves and they don't renew it home to find a new home for that team.
