Ability to choose what is most important to free agents

In the game setup > league options, it would be great to have the ability to have sliders (much like we have for scouting) where we can indicate what default factors are most important for the majority of free agents in that league.

  • For instance, if you are creating a fictional league that has fierce regional rivalries (think NCAA football or European soccer), you could choose to have "close to hometown" or "close to college" be nearly as important (45%) as salary (55%).
  • But if you have a traditional MLB setup, you could make salary the typical dominant #1 factor (80%) for most players, far above other factors.
  • Or in another world, make "play for historically successful team" (aka Yankees) very important.
  • Or "play for former manager/GM" would be a nice choice to have -- this often happens when a great leader moves from one organization to another -- players want to play for him again.

I was thinking about this as I now run a solid major league team after winning college and minor league titles. I'm trying to sign free agents, but none of my former players from my past care that I am bidding for them. I'm just another team to them. That's not how it works in real life. If I was such a great GM/manager in real life, many of my former players would want to play for me again.

I agree. That's sounds like a good option.

Sounds like you want Football Manager's "Favorite People/Personnel" attribute. Every player/manager in that game has a list of other player/managers that they really like/respect. The wouldn't necessarily even have had any contact with one another yet. A lot of times rookies would have a player that they loved in their childhood as one of their Favorite Personnel (increasing the chance of that player accepting a chance in the future to be on the same team as their idols)

Comes in handy for a whole bunch of stuff:
players moving to be close to a good manager they've had contact with
in the past

players moving to play with their favorite players

assistant coaches rejoining a manager when he moves up to a better club.
