End all debate about players rapidly declining once they hit age 30sih by doing THIS!

For each individual player make there a "peak age" and a "decline age" where you input a number or multiple numbers (ex. 34-37, where it could be anywhere between these age where a player suddenly hits his downfall).

The peak age would determine until what age a player will still increase his ratings at a quick pace. Once he hits that age he will level out (moving say +/- 6 points at most from determined plateau overall based on 20-80 scale) until he hits decline age where his stats will start to steadily decrease.

A players peak age/decline age should of course be able to change just like potential for various situations such as serious health problems ravaging his career like a Mark Prior.

If we did this it would stop players like Mariano Rivera from dropping from a mid 70s CL to 50 in one year.

Where's the debate? in my leagues players seem to age very realistically, or at least enough for me.

If you have development on then the possibility of rapid aging that you don't like and non-development of a known prospect, say Strasburg, is there. The apparent randomness is required in order to keep the skills distribution such that realistic league totals can be reached. Each player does have a peak age and a decline age but you can't "know" it until he plays it. Just like real life.

The only way you can "know" the future development path of any player is to play historical leagues with development off and one of the various recalc options on.

What age is Mo in your example above? Remember in real life Rivera is an outlier, no analogue exists for him and the game is very likely to age him rapidly just like any other 40 something would age.

I like the way aging currently is. As a matter of fact I don't believe the game creates enough "Cup of Coffee" players. Those that come up young and are done by age 25-27. Of course these players should not have super star like years and then are gone, but average players that just don't make the roster and are forced to retire young. I am looking at my player history and I see way too many players playing past the age of 30-35.

I don't think that there are too many star quality players playing past 30-35, I think there are too many average players that in real life would lose the roster spot to a younger player.

Just glancing at my 2004 MLB B.Giles 33, Griffey 34, Sheffield 34, B. Williams 35 are all right about where they were IRL at the same age. Same with Maddux 38. I have batter aging speed set at .998 and pitchers set at .997 talent randomness was 100 I just lowered that to 75. Mo Rivera is 41 is 2011 How fast did he threw in 2011 low 90's to upper 80's? Maybe he can be Shingo Takatsu of 2004 a fastball of 83 and a 47 MPH changeup.

I like how the aging works. In fact I sometimes wish that certain players would age a little faster so I wouldn't be tempted to keep them around on the team and feel sorry for them when they get released or demoted. I can get attached to players I like.
