Joe Mauer

I think it's time for his own thread:

Five four hit games this year.

He's gone 10-11 this series against the Dodgers.

Has 8 hits in his last 8 at bats.

Leads league with .391 batting average and .455 on base percentage.

Has not gone 0-for in two straight games this season.

Has a 1.129 OPS in the month of June.

Oh, and he's one of the top defensive catchers in the league.

I'm starting to think drafting him over Prior #1 overall wasn't such a bad move.

The guy is a hitting machine.

I have him on 2 of my fantasy teams, and he's racking up points. I only wish he hit for more power.

He leads the league for slugging by a catcher by nearly 30 points

I have a fantasy league with a team that includes Mauer, Reyes, Santana, Liriano, and a guy named Pujols. It's going pretty well.

His plate patience is insane, and his ability to foul off pitches he doesn't like is uncanny. His power will come as he gets a bit older.

I'd only accept a four-way trade:

To Twins from Red Sox:
Ramirez, Ortiz, $45,000,000

To Twins from Cardinals:
Pujols and $30,000,000

To Twins from Yankees:
A-Rod and $150,000,000

To the three teams to share:
Joe Mauer

Yeah, He has always been a hitting machine. Struck out once his entire high school career. Was recruited as a QB by Mr. Bobby Bowden at FSU. I am a twins fan and I was not disappointed at all they chose Mauer over Prior. It was well know in Minnesota that he was something special. Great thread!!!

Not likely. Expect the normal second half slide for a catcher. It's too demanding a position for any player to keep up such a torrid pace.

He's also got a .422 BABIP which isn't likely to last.

Yeah, I don't expect him to make any type of run for .400 or anything like that, but man, he's such a good hitter, unbelievable eye, and he's 23 years old playing the toughest position and playing it very well. Good enough for me.

He may not hit .400, but he will win the batting title.
