It's also been forgotten that the Knicks signed Randolph Morris late last season.

The F/C was projected as a top 10 pick for this draft but thanks to a wonderful loophole, he became a free agent when he left school.

The Knicks are getting big in the East. Always a good thing. We just need a shooter!

When was Morris projected as a top 10 pick? Top 10 in the second round maybe. He's a guy that went undrafted the year before

Late into the NCAA season some had projected him going in the top 10.

I don't make the predictions. I just read them.

What's with Isiah and name duplications / alliterations? First it was the Roses, now it's the Randolphs. There were "Q" Richardson and "Q" Woods. There were Jerome James, Jared Jeffries, Jamal, Jalen, and Jackie.

BTW, those two guards may be just trade bait as they have those highly desirable expiring contracts. AFAIK, they still need a PG and that's what Dickau is listed as, so maybe he stays and Jones goes elsewhere. Then again, Dickau's assists per game were just about half league average so I really don't know what he brings to the party (not scoring with a 3.3 PPG in 50 games last year).

They say there's more to come as Thomas tries to "upgrade the roster" and still deal with his salary woes. I'm actually getting interested in the Knicks again. Let's see if that lasts at least through the end of November.

I don't want to gum up the current NBA thread with this, but I have to get it off my chest someplace, so I dug up this generic thread.

The Knicks stink. Stink. Thomas and Marbury deserve each other. Dolan deserves the two of them. And the way the rest of the Knicks (well, most of them, not all) have been playing, they deserve all three of them!

Larry Brown got the money, right? I can't remember. I think so. If so, good for him. He's got to be needing oxygen these days, he's laughing so hard.

Edit: The blame for this mess ultimately and rightfully goes to that moron Dolan who gave Thomas an undeserved extension and who has seen the team go 6-23 since then. For those of you who don't follow the Knicks, here's a summary of the situation: http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/dailyd...ge=dime-071121

Do me a favor, please. Let this thread now sink down and away from sight again.

Thumbs down

I'm dragging up this sorry thread to record something for posterity:

Isiah Thomas in this, his final season in charge of the Knicks, ended up with the same terrible record (23-59 .280) as Larry Brown, the man he forced out of the coaching job in favor of himself. Two years later, and with players that he himself brought to the team, he could do no better than Brown. I had to record that here, along with my deep satisfaction.

Three Knick teams from the early 1960's had worse winning percentages, but no Knicks team has ever lost more than 59 games in a season. Thomas was responsible for producing two of the four teams that now share this record. I had been hoping for 60 losses for him, but the irony with Brown will do. Now away with Smilin' Izzy and let the healing begin.

Donnie Walsh was a very good hiring and I expect him to take the coaching hiring process seriously.

I still think Isiah Thomas would work great as a Scouting Director working hand-in-hand with Walsh and evaluating the draft picture and it's prospects.

Thomas knows how to find players that can perform in the NBA Level. But, I'd save his recommendations for the second round. You don't want someone that "clever" to pick a high pick. He'd just mess it up.

Nice to know that the Knicks will finally take advantage of their losing record and get somebody good from the college level.
