I find in funny that they are holding the English World Cup bid over the EPL's heads as some sort of public blackmail not to buck their wishes.

Even if England hosts the WC they will still find a way not to qualify

German teams hardly setting the football world on fire, going on 8 years since either country or club team won anything isn't it ? And if the draw against the world footballing power of Aberdeen is anything to go by then don't hold your breath for German success in the near future.

Since 1966 the Germans have won the WC in 1970 and 1990; have been 2nd in 1982, 1986 and 2002 and finished 3rd last WC. Germany needs to bow down to no one in the football world. Only Italy in Europe has as impressive a record.

1970 World Cup was played in Mexico where Brazil beat Italy in the final, one if not the most famous final.

What you should have said was 1974 where West Germany beat Holland in one of the worst finals in history.

But like I say a German team hasn't won anything for years so for a German to mock England kind of made me laugh.

When was the last time an English team won anything though? The Big 4 are primarily foreign in players and staff. Germany has been consistantly successful for decades. With German players. No colonial players to give the team a boost (France, with most of their best players African, are an example here). They deserve massive kudos.

Bit of luck and Englands record would match any other team in Europe, 1970 Moore being fitted up and goalkeeping injuries, 1986 Cheating Maradona, 1990 penalties and they were easily good enough to win all those World Cups. So not being biased but anybody who knocks Englands World Cup record just imo knows nothing about football.

German football is littered with non Germans heck back in the 70's Germans footballer of the year was English, think I'm right in saying some of the last World Cup team weren't even born in Germany.

And we must give credit for Germany qualifying for every international tournet that I can remember. Evrn when their players might not have the individual talent of some other nations, they play disciplined and together. The German model is one that I am shocked other countries dont follow.

Because it's boring, to add to the non Germans at this moment in time their squad contains 3 Polish born players and a Brazilian born player. Least we only have to put up with Hargreaves as a non Brit if memory serves me right. I'd rather not qualify than qualify with a team that contains a load of non English players.

England have quite a few black players..remnants of colonialism. Where would England be of they had to field a team of players who had English grandparents?

I'm part English and also part German so I win either way. But it does strike me as ironic that England and France crow about their football successes using players from nations they conquered while Germany and Italy have mostly native born players. And those 'Polish' players had at least one German parent and were likely born in territory that was and still should be German.
