Boom! Called it. Fukudome!

Fukudome Signs with Cubs, reportedly.

Looks to be 4 years, 12-14 mill per.

That's a lot of moolah for a guy coming off elbow surgery.

Ah, I'm happy with any signing at this point. I know he probably won't even do well this year as he adjusts to American pitching. Maybe he'll play well, but I'm aiming for him to be productive two seasons from now.

Who cares about the Moolah, the game has changed and money means nothing in baseball anymore it seems.

Crap

Its not even 2008 and I'm already getting excited again. The fall will be especially hard this year, methinks.

Well, on the north side, it doesn't.

Fukudome costs more than the Florida Marlins.

The Cubs do play in the NL, you know.

eh, that only works for foreign pitchers coming over to face the weaker hitting. the pitching isn't that much worse in the NL than AL

Added my own thought... but if he's going to replace Jacque Jones, I suppose it's worth it.

I hope he does well, Chicago builds a domed stadium, and they name it after him.

I agree, Being in Boston, If the Red Sox are gonna raise ticket prices every year, I'm not going to complain that they are spending the money on the team.

Fukudome has been a great addition to the Cubs lineup so far.

The Official Site of The Chicago Cubs: News: Fukudome at center of offensive surge

He was a great, patient hitter back in Japan who could use the whole field with some power.
However, I admit I did not expect him to be able to adjust to the MLB this soon, after watching Matsui (NYY) had tough time in his first year. (at the first couple of months)

Too early to tell if he keeps on hitting like this, (probably not, considering the fact that he has never experienced the long season with lots of traveling) but with the way he has been patient at the plate, I am quite impressed by his performance so far.

He does not have the speed of Ichiro, but he is a pretty good baserunner.
He does not have the power of Hideki Matsui, but I think he is capable of hitting around 20HRs/year.
He is not a great OF like Ichiro is, but he is certainly an above average OF with above average arm.
