Maybe I need to be a shyster to understand it better. I don't get it.

This is kind of like OJ's legal team trying to have DNA evidence thrown out before the tests were even completed. Why throw out something that may exhonerate you at a time when supposedly the results are unknown, unless you knew all along what they were going to say?

Yikes... I guess Roger will go to any lengths to conceal his chronic B-12 vitamin use. Maybe Rog should have a sitdown with Dr. Phil next to really sort things out.

What other players talked to Mitchell? It's not only about if they have something to hide, but also about forming an unified stance against investigations like this.

Another interesting news:

http://www.newsday.com/sports/baseba...-world-utility

Quote:
In a surprising twist to their public war of words, Roger Clemens and his former trainer, Brian McNamee, spoke by telephone Friday night, Newsday has learned. It was their first contact since the Mitchell Report was released Dec. 13, and a person close to the situation described the hourlong conversation between the longtime friends as "emotional."
Really odd timing, with the lawsuits and the congress hearing coming.

Giambi and Frank Thomas are the two I've read mentioned so far that have talked to Mitchell. One admits to taking them, the other has no evidence against him.

A unified stance to hinder an on-going federal investigation? Sends a great message. A pretty transparent one at that.

It wasn't a federal investigation. Giambi was forced to talk, and he did so with the announcement of not going to name any names.

You misunderstood. I was referring to the BALCO investigation as being Federal. oops.

But what does that have anything to do with Mitchell or Clemens or Thomas?

So Clemens has filed a defamation suit against McNamee for making "false and defamatory" claims. The discovery phase of this trial should be fascinating.

Is it possible that they draw out the trial so long that McNamee can't afford to pay for his defense anymore so no evidence ever comes from the trial?

McNamee sounds like a really credible source:

Discovery comes way up front. It can drag on in complicated trials, but this is a fairly simple lawsuit, so it is unlikely that it will.

"I don't have any money. I have nothing," McNamee said. "I'm not doing a book deal. I got offered seven figures to go on TV. I didn't do it. I didn't take it. I didn't do anything. All I did was what I thought was right -- I never thought it was right, but I thought that I had no other choice, put it that way."
I believe Clemens more each time McNamee opens his mouth. This plays to Clemens' assertion that McNamee did this because the feds threatened him with jail if he didn't link Roger to steroids. Couple that with a dying son, and McNamee "did what he had to do."

Where exactly is the logic in that?

If Clemens proves McNamee to be lying, McNamee has to go to jail.

That might be exactly the reason why McNamee told Clemens that he's willing to help, but he doesn't want to go to jail.

this is turning into a witch hunt. And it is all pointless anyway, you can't rewrite history, whtas done is done. Change the rules and move forward. most of this stuff wasn't even agains MLB rules until what 01, 03? but the "investigations" are going back decades? test everybody 3 times a season, once in the offseason and move forward.

I'm sick of it, Barry gets burried, clemens is given every benifit of the dought. Clemens is generaly liked by the media, Bonds isn't. thats they only difference here.
