Ryan Sweeney looks good to. Hitting .348 so far this season and solid defense. I think the pitchers will be the meat of the Swisher trade, but that doesn't look so bad either.

Stupid early games. I missed it completely.

When I looked at the box score, our old friend Saarloos pitched the last 2 innings. It looks like our rule 5 pickup is gone.

Edit:
Who doesn't like the name "Fernando"? You gotta admit, that's a great name

Most Sox fans (myself included) were baffled that Hernandez was left unprotected while duds like Dewon Day were kept on the 40-man roster...

He's not gone yet, but they had to DFA him to get Saarloos up because they needed a guy to replace DiNardo as the long relief guy.

If Hernandez doesn't get claimed by anybody, the A's can either work out a trade to keep him and send him down or they can offer him back to the Sox.

Howzabout Hernandez for Mark Ellis?

Hernandez re-acquired from Oakland

STOP TAKING OUR PROSPECTS!

Seriously, between Hernandez, Gonzalez, Marshall and de los Santos, the A's could've had a staff featuring 4 former Sox prospects.

There is no better cure for a 3 game loosing streak than playing the Royals.

I guess this happened a couple days ago, but I didn't hear about it. DJ to the Rays.

Does that make him #3 in the the depth chart behind Pena & Hinske? Iick.

No kidding, that was a great way to get the A's back on track.

And thanks to that series, this UNBELIEVABLE thing happened:

That's right, the Oakland A's lead all of Major League Baseball in batting average with runners in scoring position.

THE OAKLAND A'S LEAD ALL OF MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL IN BATTING AVERAGE WITH RUNNERS IN SCORING POSITION!

I don't understand. I, I just don't get it. Something must be wrong. Why do I feel all fuzzy inside?

The A's claimed Rajai Davis off waivers from the Giants:

The Official Site of The Oakland Athletics: News: A's claim outfielder Davis from Giants

It's funny, yesterday the first thing I thought to myself when I read the Giants waived him was, "Maybe the A's should get him." But then I realized that I that I like Rajai Davis better than I would the average speedy fifth outfielder type because I loved him in Baseball Mogul and he was my leadoff hitter for 15 years. Never thought it'd actually happen.

Another good win tonight. Timely hitting and great pitching. A's get their first shutout of 08.

It makes perfect sense: They're going to sign Bonds.

Bonds in left, Cust in right, and Davis covering the ENTIRE outfield by himself!

Heh. More likely its Buck to the DL.

I didn't see the game last night, but Gaudin with 84 pitches in 7 innings? That's freaking impressive.

Buck to the DL is right.

Also, Chavez to the 60 day DL to clear a roster spot.

Why? THE BIG HURT IS BACK!

For $337K ... not a bad move on the A's part. That probably is far less than what Bonds is asking. If he chokes, you didn't lose much and could still try to tap Bonds.
