He's been guaranteed to make 2. The Yanks have too much invested in him to just completely give up on him. I would expect 4-5 starts from Igawa before a decision is made. But, if he's getting lit up while Kennedy sparkles in the minors, it would probably be a quicker hook.

OK, Igawa's done pitching batting practice. What? The game started already? That wasn't BP? Oh no!

I agree with you.
He simply does not have it, I guess.
What an expensive BP pitcher...

Being a Red Sox fan I don't come 'round these parts much, but this must be a frustrating start for you guys...what are the opinions ? Can you win the division...make the playoffs ? (I don't want to see Wells again...ever !)

1) Thank the Lord that the Tigers have New York on their schedule.
2) Jones is the scariest closer in MLB. When will they get rid of the Gas Can!?!

Simply put, there's no substitute for good starting pitching. Plus, injuries to Rodriguez, Posada, and Jeter have not helped. But, it's mid-May, not even that. I've learned not to be concerned until July or August.

Igawa . . . well, sorry myasu! Not all of your stars are going to shine over here, unfortunately.

Wells . . . wells, I agree with you guys. I'd rather get another Rasner either by promotion or trade. Wells is always out of shape, as we know, and now he is old. Don't waste the money or the precious starting rotation slot on him.

I'm pretty sure Cashman is gone after this year.

Steinbrenner is going to force something stupid that will hinder the development of the young pitching and Cashman is going to say that enough is enough.

He'll leave, possibly go to Philly, and be a happy GM.

Then Steinbrenner is going to have to promote from within because there is no GM in the world stupid enough to take that job.

I hate to say, but I think you are right on all points, YP. Put another way, Cashman is too bright to work for the neanderthal Steinbrenner clan.

Honestly, I've had enough of Cashman and would love to show him the door. I can't really think anything positive he's done for this team. Its time he move on. He finally had a chance to do something on his own without George involved and he brought back the same team from last year.

On that note, I am not worried about the Yankees at all. They are ahead of where they were last year at this point and they should have A-Rod back by weeks end. That'll be a great boost to our lineup! Kennedy should be back in about 10 days as well.

Eh, Betemit is no loss. I prefer to seeing Ensberg start at 3B.

Betemit swings the bigger bat these days, but he was brutal at 3B during the Igawa game.

Kennedy is back Thursday, he threw one inning in AAA tonight. I think they should of let him at least complete the start. No need to rush him back, let him totally rebuild confidence.

Who had Kai with 1?

A good win for the Bombers tonite. Maybe that 35 minute closed door meeting before the game did the trick. Also, seeing Cano go 4-4 is a great sign that he might be back on track....I hope.

Nah, they still hit like crap. The only reason they won is because Mussina is throwing like he's 10 years younger. I am not deluding myself that he can keep this up, but if he can keep it up long enough for Kennedy and Hughes to get straightened out, I'd be very happy

Yes, it is good seeing Cano hit well. They need his bat.

I can't wait to see Posada and A-Rod back in the lineup.

Absolutely right on both counts. The Yankees' lack of hitting is puzzling, injuries notwithstanding. Don't forget, they have scored only four runs in three games in this series with TB.

And yeah, pronouncements of Mussina being washed up seem to be a bit premature at this point. We all do it here; I'm no exception to leaping to conclusions. It was natural in Mussina's case, because he has looked terrible at times. Now he is doing well, and people are jumping on his bandwagon again. Well, let's see how the rest of the season plays out.
