*sigh* I was worried they were bringing back Kennedy too early.

Well, my good feeling from yesterday didn't last very long. With any luck and some clutch hitting and pitching, maybe the Yanks can beat Santana tomorrow and take atleast two out three from the Mets.

Well, this thread was dropping off the charts so I thought I'd bring it up again to let the Yankee fans have that strange feeling of being on top
(but on the bright side the Blue Jays haven't been first in the AL East either this season)What happens with the rained out game against the Mets? There's no more interleague till mid June and it's your turn to go to the Shea, will they have a game in the Shea in the afternoon and one in the Bronx in the evening? I bet they wouldn't all jump on the Subway to get between the games.

It's stupid.
It's been done before and they wanted it done again. I don't understand why they wouldn't just have a doubleheader on Saturday after the Friday rainout. What benefit does it have for teams to play four games over three days because you can have a ultra-cool Bronx/Queens Doubleheader? None.

![]() ESPN will be all over it. Guaranteed. It's going to be bigger than the actual series. I'm already predicting they'll talk about the New York Giants, Brooklyn Dodgers, New York Yankees rivalry. They'll have exclusive coverage of both teams traveling from the Bronx to Queens or vice versa. There will be some bit on how both teams are fully rested after a long travel between double headers. Everyone will laugh. Audiences will be appalled. If you hate the Mets/Yankees rivalry and the coverage it gets, then get ready because it's going to be 10x worse.

Meanwhile, beyond the 2-run per game limit that the Yankees have imposed on themselves, beyond having only 2.5 reliable starters (albeit interchangeable; that is, not the same 2.5), is the problem of the bullpen. Like F****w***h did the other night, Ohlendorf comes on in the eighth and seals the deal by giving up Wang's final run plus four more of his own. 1/3 of an inning, 17 pitches, IBB followed by single, single, home run. Game out of reach. This problem has to be addressed; F****w***h, Ohlendorf, and Hawkins are killing us.

If they were able to play on Saturday, then they could've played a second game. Now there's going to be more distraction and way too much buildup on playing a split doubleheader in both ballparks. Hmmm, I'd like to know who was against playing a twinbill on Saturday, the teams or the other idiots in suits?

That makes sense. I noticed that shortly after my post. Mets management must've asked to add a game to the June series because of Tuesday's doubledip. There's a bit of "old school" in my blood that says make up for it the next day. I'm weird.

Last night aside, it hasn't been an auspicious start for the 'young guns' of the AL East. Lester, Buchholz, Hughes and Kennedy have a staggering 5 wins between them this season.
*of course, if you take Hughes and Kennedy out of that equation it's still 5 wins between them ![]()

I hear ya, but it's a different time...there's not a team in the league that would have done anything different than the Mets did here. Too many pricey guys to protect.

We could have used a rainout tonight. It was pouring where I live until about 6PM, but after dinner it stopped. I flipped over to YES around 7:20 and was pleased at first; the game was on! I would have bet on a rainout tonight. Well, OK . . .
Wait, Ohlendorf just came in, a bit early, no? It's only the first inning. Jeez, I hope Mussina didn't pull a muscle in the cold damp. What? It's 7-0 already? Mussina has headed for the showers in his earliest departure from a game since 1995 or 1996 (not that he needed a shower then either)? Like I said, we could have used a rainout tonight.

Please, The Yankees do this every year. In May, they give us Red Sox fans hope the the division could be sealed by late August. Then by the trade deadline They are usually within striking distance or have taken over the lead.
I fully expect the Yankees to bounce back.
