Good win tonight. Fun and enthusiasm from the players, and fire from the manager. When's the last time you saw a Yankee manager kicking his cap in a beef with an umpire? Maybe this turns a corner.

Nice to see the Yankees back at their 2RpG level again!!! Quite an aberration that 8 run one...

Are we close to a recent record for most days bottom-dwelling by the Yankees?

Nah, during their awful stint in the late 80s to early 90s, they had to be in the basement longer than this.

D'oh... of course the Rays weren't around at that time either (would have made being bottom almost impossible )

Everybody started hitting, just totally crashed the Mariners.
Joba had a nice couple of innings, looking very comfortable and confident.

Couldn't we take the Mariners with us on this road trip?

Hopefully, we ticked them off enough for them to play well against you

Well, Ohlendork did it again. I am considering the asterisk treatment for him.

I could never manage in the major leagues. I simply would not have the patience that is needed to make the correct decisions, I guess. Apparently, people have to fail again and again and again for the Yankees to sort out whether a guy is in a slump or just plain stinks.

That's what makes me a fan and them the professional managers. They have to be careful not to damage player psyches, while I can blow off steam here and nobody cares.

So here goes: GET THE RODEO CLOWNS OUT OF THE BULLPEN!

Wow, your way off base on this one. Ohlendorf is actually not been bad, only 2 really bad games before tonight. Other then that, he's been pretty solid.

He'll be fine, he's the setup man of the future.

Let's see. Tonight he goes two and a third, gives up 3 home runs and allows the O's to score four runs, all in the fifth inning, and his ERA is now up to 6.37. This is on top of some ugly performances that you will see below. Yet, there also was a recent streak of decent outings, now that I look closer.

OK. Like I said, I lack patience. Maybe he will be good; he's only 25.

The thing is, there have been quite a few ugly performances this year from several guys who seem to be taking turns throwing away games in relief. That's enough for me to damage my TV and turn to this forum for solace.

Holy smokes! What a game! Jeter has not played well (hee-hee). Tie game bottom of the 11th. Huff is on third. IBB for Millar. Your bullpen sucks, except for Rivera. Here's Cintron.

O's WIN!!!!! O's WIN!!!!!! O's WIN!!!!!!!

Oh, sorry.

I do not know why, but everytime Matsui does something good in extra innings, Yankees seem to lose the game. (remember the homerun he hit in Tampa?)

Not talking smack, but these are the kind of losses the O's used to have that started their fall to fourth place every year after a promising start. Two four run lead blown and a lead in extra innings blown.

You guys just don't look scary anymore. A-Rod is incredible, still. Jeter just played probably the worst game I've ever seen him play. Giambi is underrated I think offensively. Damon is crap. Abreu is no longer anything special. Cano is pretty good. Matsui is decent. Pitching is horrible.

Tampa Bay is better than you right now.

Sorry to ramble on.

This was the best game I've watched as an O's fan in probably ten years.

Mariano looks as dominant as ever. He is truly an amazing player.

Russ, I'm glad you are feeling so good but could you take your unseemly celebration to the Orioles thread? Oh, and don't forget to take your supersized bird logo with you.

I may not be up on this, but MLB.com is vaunting the much-awaited long relief outing for Joba last night. According to the box scores I've seen he went for 1.1 innings - not what I class as long relief...
