Actually, that looked a little unreal to me, as in "unusual." [Watch it, here comes thom. Shhh.]

Remember when I said Girardi wouldn't make it into a second year as Yankee manager. Well, he may be gone sooner then you think.

I have it on good authority that all is not well between he and management and that Hank now wants Girardi gone.

Does a ball sitting on top of the wall in Yankee Stadium not mean a home run? Seems odd given that it left the playing area without touching the ground...

I believe the ruling was the top of the wall is still fair ground and a ball sitting there has not left the field of play. So, when it fell back onto the field, it was the same as if it had caromed off the wall. If it had stayed on top of the wall, the fielder would have had to retrieve it to prevent an inside-the-park home run. If he could not reach the ball, it would have been an ITPHR anyway.

Ah well, at least Damon didn't end up doing what Rios (IIRC) did at Fenway in 2006 when a fly ball bounced out of his glove and into the bleachers, turning a single/double into a home-run

The ground rules are different at different parks. In some parks there is a yellow line on top of the wall, and if it hits that line it's a HR. Apparently not the case at Yankee Stadium.

It would have been SO COOL if it stayed on top!

By the way, did you see the fan behind the transparent wall frantically motioning to Damon where the ball was on the ground? He doesn't do that, maybe Youk does have an ITPHR. That's one time a fan influenced the outcome of the game without touching the ball, for a change.

Dola, and my comments on today's game:
  1. MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSE!
  2. F*r**w*r*h (One letter [restored] at a time. One letter at a time.)
  3. If Rivera keeps doing that to my nervous system, he's going to be Riv*ra soon!

The Yankees had one bench player available today...

I am shocked at Moose, maybe it's time I give him a bit of credit.

I am convinced that Mike Mussina is really dead and an alien learning to play the game of baseball, mixed with great athletic ability being an alien and all, has taken over his body and is pitching for the New York Yankees.

I also think that Hank Steinbrenner is aware of this and has offered the alien 21 million over 3 years to remain in NY.

Three years for a 39-year-old?

39-year-old alien, he is.

I guess red sox have to find a predator and somehow install it to David Ortiz when he comes back.

I haven't watched an NYY game for a while till last night on the TV. What is it with Giambi and his facial hair? How's he managed to sneak it past the Steinbrenners? When I first turned it on, I thought it was mid-inning entertainment with some former porn-star playing first base!!!

While ownership is not thrilled with mustaches, they are allowed as long as the ends don't droop too much. Generally facial hair below lip level is banned on the Yankees.

Don't you remember what happened during the Stump Merril era?
