Didn't really matter. Yanks lost 4-0. Surely, their offense should be capable of scoring more than 4 runs.

The bullpen was extremely solid and Kennedy pitched well coming out of the pen.

And the pen isn't spent. If Kennedy had started he would have gone 5/6 innings. The guys used worked the innings they would work regardless. We still have Hawkins, Chamberlain, and Rivera for today. And I'd bet that Bruney and Traber can go again if needed.

I'm telling people, the Royals are no joke.

They showed signs last year. Their bullpen is even better this year and with Grienke back in the rotation they have a solid 1-3 in the top of the rotation.

It was good they didn't wind up wasting the entire pen. I still think they should of let Kennedy start, but at least they got a few innings out of him.

I think its worse to mess with a kid by doing what they did yesterday, then not letting him start because it may rain.

Yanks vs. Boston. The start of the real season. Up until now . . . exhibitions.

Here are the projected matchups for the 3 games:

Fri -- Wang (2-0 1.38) vs Buchholz (0-1 5.40)
Sat -- Mussina (1-1 3.09) vs Beckett (0-1 9.64)
Sun -- Hughes (0-1 5.00) vs Dice-K (2-0 1.47)

Unfortunately, the only nationally televised game is the one that Mussina is throwing

Tomorrows game has a pretty good chance of being rained out from what I hear.

Should we start the Alberto Gonzalez discussion??? Is the time coming to move Jeter to first, maybe next season?

Yeah, but you followed it up with Moose and Kennedy... At least we had the Beckett-DiceK combo to tie it up

Hope that he pulls through from this. Not something anyone would wish on anyone else.

I command you to hit yourself for that. Use three-quarter strength. ()

BTW, I think along with this supposed "curse", Big Papi's swing might have also been unearthed with his jersey.

Beware!

Anyone know who is catching tonight? Molina sounds like he's heading to the DL and I read that Posada won't be behind the plate until Wednesday.

On another note, who's the idiot who scheduled 20 games in 20 days to open the season?? This opening schedule is going to kill an older team like ours.

hehe, you can only hope I'm actually surprised he didn't find his swing this weekend. He always seems to come up big against the Yanks.

Good thing, or else we may have lost three out of three, Chien or no Chien.

FYI -- I answered my own question. Chad Moeller will be catching tonight.

Is Molina on the DL? If not, who did the Yanks send down to make room for Moeller?

On a brighter note, Gonzalez had a pretty decent debut at the plate:

.385 AVG (5-13)
.467 OBP
1.005 OPS (out of the 5 hits, 2 were 2bs)

Not too shabby for a very small sample size.
