2008 St. Louis Cardinals Official Thread

I'm surprised no one had started this one yet. Have all of the Cards' fans lost hope already?

It's definitely a new look for the Cardinals this season.

Opening Day line-up:

1 Schumaker LF
2 Ludwick RF
3 Pujols 1B
4 Glaus 3B
5 Ankiel CF
6 Molina C
7 Izturis SS
8 Wainwright P
9 Miles 2B

I'm not expecting any miracles, but I do think this will be a fun team to watch.

Troy Glass should help out Pujols if he can make it through at least half a season.

A great start washed away by the rain.

I went to the game yesterday, was disapointed by the rainout, but they looked better than expected. Of course Jeff Francis pitching 10 straight balls to start the game helped things out!

Did they run out of balls or something? What did he throw after they ran out? Enquiring minds want to know.

How do the Cards not atleast get into the 5th inning? Sheesh, just fire pitches down the middle for the Colorado half and go up and strike out 3 straight times to make the fifth and have it count for replay.

The oddity of the idea of grooving pitches to the opponent aside, the storm wasn't supposed to be as bad as it ended up being.

And what do you mean "count for replay" anyway? Don't you mean would've been a completed game?

Tonight's game is a game a good team wins, and a poor team finds a way to lose. I'm a big Cards fan but I HOPE this isn't what the whole season is like. The error by Gloss and the bases loaded walk were both inexcusable at the ML level.

A better game tonight. Lets get over .500 tomorrow and then work on staying above for the rest of the season.

Pretty good game today.

Ankiel will likely hit .250 or so, with an on base percentage around .300, for the year.

He should also slug around .450, so anything he does early in the year is a blessing.

I see 30 homeruns, and about 80 RBI for the year for him.

I think he'll do better than most people think but he'll have a stretch where he can't get a hit. Remember, this is going to be his first full ML season as a hitter.

I sure do like the platoon system I see, even this early in the season.

Cards look good again tonight, as long as the bp doesn't blow it for Looper.

Bases loaded in the top of the 7th, we need a big K from Kerns...

Would've taken a lot of range to field that ball from the DL.

Jokes aside, yeah, Glaus' defense is just good enough to be a 1B. Or a DH.

Cards pick up another win, though.

Another win! Great start from Adam. Can they keep this up? Only time will tell.
