Official 2007/08 NHL Play-offs Thread

Ok, and the marathon has begun.

Senators looked flat, especially the PP. Fluery played very well. Ottawa had better wake up very quickly or this could be a 4 game series.

I couldn't believe Brodeur's boo-boo on the Rangers 2nd goal, just so un-Marty like to do that. How about Gomez haunting his former team with 3 assists. Well done Scotty

Flames played their checking game quite well and kept the Sharks at bay for most of the night, and when they let down Kipper was there, playing like he did during the 04 run.

Av's played well, and surprisingly Theodore is continuing his fine play from the regular season into the play-offs.

Tough to call any series after one game, but Ottawa definitely needs to step up big time. The rest all look like they could be close and go 6 or 7.

So far my playoffs have been on par with someone pissing in my cheerios(Ottawa), but havign a guiness waiting to wash the taste out of my mouth (Flames).

Let's hope the followup is a tasty treat with a Habs win. God Ottawa annyos me greatly right now.

I hope the Stars offense is able to show life against that Ducks defense. At least after last year there is not the talk about Turco not being able to do anything positive in the playoffs.

Great game by my Habs, a total team effort. Price was great, although he wasn't tested seriously too often, he made the big save when he had to.

Kostitsyn's are the real deal. Montreals speed was definitely the difference maker tonight.

Red Wings had a fairly easy time, although I have to say Ellis was solid in goal for the Preds. Hasek on the other hand had a pretty easy night.

Pens looked pretty good against the Sens. Gary Roberts was magnificent and Fleury looked strong in net. Gerber looked solid too, and he'll have to be good all series if the Sens will have a shot now.

Wings looked good too. I agree with BruceM that Ellis looked good in goal for the Preds. That's the only thing, as a Wings fan, that I'd be scared of in this series: the hot goaltender.

I wouldn't say Gerber looked solid at all. In fact, I think he looked very average, which is not what Ottawa needs. Fleury on the other hand is continuing his stellar play in net. Since coming back from his ankly injury, he is now 11-2-1 with a 0.950 SP and a 1.54 GAA. If he keeps this up, I don't think there's any way the Pens can be stopped this year.

Ottawa and Pittsburgh seem like complete opposites this year from last.

Flames might have had a chance to win if they didn't take back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back penalties.

Otherwise great game.

Nice little win for the Stars and a nice little shutout for Turco.

Nice to see the Sharks play a complete game last night. It looked like they were asleep on Wednesday until a minute left in the 3rd period. As a big fan of that team, this is the year they need to make it to the finals.

He made some big stops in the first game and carried it over into the second game. But I guess compared to Fleury in the first game, anything solid looks a lot worse than it is.

Still, gotta like the Pens continuing to play strong and take a 2-0 series lead.

Well, definitely a better performance from the Bruins tonight, and a somewhat lacsidasical performance by the Habs for parts of the game.

Kovalev comes through again. On the 2nd goal that he set up he literally skated circles around the Bruins. The OT winner was a bullet.... sweeet.

Go Habs Go

They wouldn't have needed OT if Kovalev hadn't given up the dumb penalty, but I'm glad he redeemed himself!

Anyone watch the Sharks - Flames game tonight/this morning? Yet another reminder of how dangerous sitting on an early, easy lead can be.

Yup, he's earned his paycheck even if those were the last minutes he plays this spring. I got a feeling that this win was huge for the Flames.

OH ya tuned in at 3-1 and was enjoying the ride. Absolutely awesome.

One step closer to IMO would be a very cool matchup (rematch of the 1986 and 1989 Finals)

An all Canadian final would be cool for many reasons, best of which it would tick off Bettman to no end.
