Highly enjoyable stuff there.

They are still the Chicago Cubs.

So a handful of fans is representative of the ENTIRE fan base???? are you kidding me?? a well known broadcaster openly says this team WILL ALWAYS lose because they're the Cubs??? Who won the division last year? Oh yea... the Cubs...
The Reds have gone since 1995 with no postseason apperances. He SHOULD be ashamed of his comments.. but obviously he never will be... He's jealous.

I don't think he said anything that wasn't true. I bet almost every NL team would come to a consensus that the most obnoxious - certainly the most baseball ignorant - fans in the league hold court at Wrigley Field.

But, I'm likely biased by my own rooting interests. Nothing associated with the Cubs (except, if I may admit my appreciation, the radio duo of Hughes and Santo) is worth a damn. Well, maybe a few fans are excepted who are genuinely good folks but who seem to have lost their minds or who have been shamefully indoctrinated by poor role models in their choice of a favorite team.

...and at least one AL team would probably agree to that, as well.

Brennaman is a tool. Ask him about a little incident back in 88 when he almost incited a riot because of an umpire who blew a call. Fans were chucking anything they could get ahold of on the field at the ump. Yeah he is a real good judge. I think what the bleacher dorks did was stupid but come on Marty took it too far.

I'll tell you who the tools are.

I went to Wrigley with some buddies, and we all had on Cardinals gear.

We were respectful, and polite, and we were treated like s***.

NONE of it was good-natured. It was early, often, and mean.

Thank God the Cards spanked the snot out of the Cubbies that day.

I agree that definitely happens and just the overall frat house atmosphere at Wrigley stinks. I have been to two Cubs games in St Louis and got some of the same razzing but will admit it was good natured.

The only issue I have with Cubs fans in St. Louis is that there are so MANY of them!

Them make about 49.99% as much noise as the Cardinals fans.

This is a compliment to the Cubs fans, BTW.

Brenneman's got nothing on Lee Elia.

(warning, that link's audio contains a teensy bit of foul language).

I tried to count the number of times he dropped the F-bomb, but I lost track. Dozens.

The best part is that Elia was the Cubs' manager at the time. Good stuff.
