The Nationals announcers are unbearable.

TV. The play-by-play guy is actually pretty good, but the color guy (not Don Sutton right now, another former player whose name I haven't caught) has a terrible voice, is repetitive, is a big-time homer, and is downright obnoxious at times. Today he was vociferously complaining about two pitches that were called balls that were OBVIOUSLY BLOWN CALLS. Thing is, replay showed that they were borderline. Of course, he kept complaining. The pbp guy seemed annoyed. There were awkward pauses aplenty. Throughout the rest of the game, he's told us what every batter and every pitcher should be thinking before every pitch.

Wow. I can't figure out who it could be. Ray Knight? He is the former player in the MASN stable for the Nats. Knight would quailify for the "terrible voice" description.
I'm a big fan of Bob Carpenter. He was a solid pro's pro when he did the Cardinals local network stuff. Sutton isn't awful. Not my favorite, but not awful by any means. |

It is Ray Knight. Thanks. Now I know who to hate.
And I agree on Sutton. He got a lot of grief in Braves circles as well, but I always thought he was ok. Especially as far as former player color announcers (who tend to be sub-par) go.
