No, but us Baltimorons were hoping Rodrigo would get some credit for his great year. They should have an award for "Rookie of the Year that no one in the whole world had ever heard of nine months ago." Rodrido woulda won that in a landslide...

well he finished second so i think that's enough respect and recognition right there.

Eric Hinske was the hands down rookie of the year in the AL this year. There really was no competition.

Randy Johnson won the Cy Young by a unanimous vote. Kind of surprised me.

This is just an example of how the Blue Jays are finally going back to their former glory. They've got so much young talent, they'll be back as a contender of the AL East in 2-3 years.

I'm a huge Jays fan, but I'd be the first to admit that it shouldn't have been a landslide, and there WAS competition. look at wins above replacement and various other stats, factor in Hinske's terrible defense and Lopez's season was about even. Who would I rather have? Hinske, of course. But just based on last season, I think their performances were about even.

Joe, I don't mean to insult you, but you're starting to sound like a Torontonian. It scares me.

(note: weird thing about this is he's a Newfie... )

why? Cause he realizes the Jays have talent? He's starting to sound like an informed fan of baseball, which if you don't believe the jays have any talent, is more than can be said about individuals from a city that may play at least 20 of it's home games... not at home.

I understand the Jays have some young talent in Hinske, Wells, Hudson and co., but I don't see them competing with the Yankees and Sox as early as next year, that's all. I also believe that they need some better pitching in order to compete (Halladay can't do it alone). Please take into account that my Jays infos come from Rogers CTV JaysNet .

next year? No kidding. We'll be happy with 82-85 wins. 2004-2005 was when JP said we'd be in contention, and in JP I trust.

If Hendrickson pitches like he did at the end of last year though, that would kick ass. On that note, Sirotka can suck a lemon. He said he felt he owed the club something, and would sign a minor league deal with the Jays... and then the Cubs sign him. **** him. Anyway, I'll always remember Hendrickson for this conversation...

Me (At the skydome hotel): "Mr. Hendrickson, could I get your autograph?"
Hendrickson: "Sure"
Other kid: "I hear you played basketball"
Hendrickson: "Yup."
Me: "He played in the NBA for four different teams."
Kid: "Wow, you played in a LEAGUE?"
Hendrickson couldn't help but laugh at that...

and I say "kid" but he's 22. He just doesn't have a job and hangs around the players hotels all the time trying to get autographs.
