As I get older Mick is still my all time Yankee favorite but I admire Williams for the hitter that he was and I do not think any player will ever hit over .400.
Ah, I wish I could have seen those two play.

It would been great to see Ted in left and Mick in center for the Yanks. There was a time that Williams wanted to be traded to the Yanks

Still here, alive.
I guess it will be a long, painful August for us.

Nice 4 game sweep of the Red Sox. Now, hopefully, the Yankees don't get too comfortable and continue to play with the same intensity. They definately have to win the East because I don't want them playing the Angels in the wild card series.

In which case the status quo as it is will be just fine. You can't beat the Angels and they can't find a way past us in the playoffs.

Plus, I love Red Sox vs Yankees in the ALCS. Makes for a very electric environment.

Attended this game last night. First time that I can remember staying until the final out. Highlights: A-Rod's 574th, Mo's 514th, Damon and Tex going back to back ("and belly to belly") with go-ahead homers, Swisher's clutch 2-RBI single to cap things off in a great comeback win. Sweep! It would be natural to envy me. Go ahead, it's alright to envy me (despite getting home at 3am - don't ask about that).

OK we won't ask why you did not get home till 3AM. It was a grear series when you sweep, you are so lucky to live so close. The nearest MLB park to me is 300 miles. Oakland and SF.

The closest major league part for me is probably Milwaukee. I can't consider the Metrodome a major league park, but that should end next year when Target Field opens up.

Now, now. You have quality professional baseball league play right in "your backyard." I can't remember, you said you don't like going to the Tokyo Dome for some reason, right? But you still have that option and others in your area - three or four professional baseball teams in the Tokyo metropolitan area, correct?

That's what I'm saying. As long as there is some pro baseball in the area (sorry, Tony) then you're alright. I've been to Yankee games this year and a Long Island Ducks game too. Yankees are long on awe, Ducks are big on fun. Equally satisfying experiences.

Seven game series: Ducks over Aces four games to one, if not sweep.

You've got to love the Elias Sports Bureau. Talk about turning something fun into a dismal science. Here's what I read this morning:

Quote:
Alex Rodriguez on Sunday became the first player in big-league history to snap scoreless ties by hitting home runs in the seventh inning or later twice in one series, according to the Elias Sports Bureau.
Yawn.

Fool that I am, I thought the significance of that home run was A-Rod moving past Killebrew into ninth place on the all-time home run list.

How would you like to work at the Bureau? Running down the hallway, almost breaking his neck, the junior analyst bursts into the corner office, "Boss, boss! You're not going to believe this, but you know that home run that A-Rod hit last night? Well . . ."
