Yeah, this team looks incredible, but their pitching is worrying me. Burnett hasn't been very sharp lately, and we need more than 1 reliable started to go far in the playoffs.

Just stopped by to pay my respect to Jeter.
He really is a true professional.

I have to respect those players (Jeter, Posada, Rivera) no matter what uniform they might be in, with the way they play. I mean, if I made the kind of money they have made, and if I won the championships they have won, Would I still play as hard as they do everyday? And They play for the team. I just have to respect those guys...

And a loyal professional at that. I have even more respect for sports players that along with their obvious talents stay with one team through the rise, peak and fall of their career.

I figure it's worth bumping this thread when the Yanks actually beat the Angels
Chamberlain looked good in his "extended" outing too. I really hope they aren't going to mess him up with all of this crap they are doing with him. If they were going to baby him like this, they should have just left him in the bullpen.

So, the probable American League Champions / World Series Champions are going to play their first game of the 2010 season at Fenway Park.
*I'm hedging my bets as 05-Apr-2010 is NYY @ BOS...

Funny how when Youkilis charges the mound (and gets hip tossed by Porcello) he's energizing his team, but when Posada takes exception to getting hit, he's taking things too far. In my opinion it sounds like a good idea for Posada to miss out on this west coast swing coming up, he'll be rested for the stretch run.

On ESPN they're calling Posada and the Yankees the "school-yard bullies," give me a break.

I'm no longer a young man and my last fist-fight was about 40 years ago, so I cannot understand the passions of a young man. But Posada is getting quite mature and should have known to put team interests ahead of his own machismo. A catcher with a broken finger or torn ligament is of no use to the team other than as an overpaid cheerleader. Besides which, despite the fact that the Yankees had hit two Jays previously, the Toronto pitcher threw way behind Posada. I would have taken that as a favor and said "Whew." As I said, I'm no longer a young man.

Doesn't look like the Yankees want to end the divisional race quite yet then.
If we hadn't blown the lead against the Angels two days back, the AL WildCard would have the second best record in the Major Leagues!!! I'm wondering if the record for the highest placing for a wild card is under threat this season (obviously a Wildcard could never have the best record in a season, but to end up with the second best would be amazing). We already have a better %age than the entire NL! Need to go back to one division with the top 4 qualifying

I'm getting really tired of Joba Rules. 7 earned runs in two innings so far. He doesn't need a pitch count with performances like this.
I think the Yankees are screwing this guy up. Either that, or maybe he's just not as good (as a starter, at least) as people thought. |
