Next season, get Joba back in the bullpen and Hughes back in the rotation.

BTW -- This is the first time I've ever said Joba belongs in the bullpen.

Thanks for that. I'll give the naysayers this benefit of the doubt: Let him run out the string this season as a starter, and let him stay in the rotation for early next season (but not this postseason, please). If he still stinks, and I don't care what "progress" or "quality outing" he thinks he has had, then back to the bullpen where he belongs.

One thing for sure. These Joba Rules are looking stupider with each outing. This guy needs work if he is going to be a starter, not babying.

I think all of this is affecting him. That or they are right and he really is struggling because he's touching innings he never reached before this season.

I think the Yankees are screwing this guy up. Either that, or maybe he's just not as good (as a starter, at least) as people thought.
Don't blame Joba, he is going to be a true starter when they finally stop this crap and all he has to do is worry about going out there and pitching every 5 days. He's not the only pitcher this is happening with in the bigs this year either. The Yankees just go out of their way to do it.

I don't understand the "Joba" rules thing either I say put him back in the bullpen. Ihope he is not part of the rotation during the playoffs.

Starting to look like the series at the end of this week might have a bit more to it now.

We'll probably both end up playing teams with worse records all the way through the playoffs (except for the ALCS )

It amazes me how you guys are giving Joba no patience and letting him develop. The worst thing is, he is developing at a major league level. Remember how he was pitching in July, before they decided to screw with him. Leave him be, it will benefit him in the future.

Agreed.

It's September and he's never been a starter this late into the season. I think the up and down of his routine over this month is having a bigger effect on him than an inability to perform as a starter.

He did a very good job before all of this.

Man, the season is almost over and I haven't even made an entrance into this thread. Now that the Braves are pretty much done for, I'll have to find someone new to root for in the post season.

Well, it's official. We're back in the post-season Magic # is 6 to clinch the division too.

I'm looking forward to the opening series against DET/MIN.

I thought it was 6 as well, but mlb.com seems to have an E against the Elim# for us. 6 behind with 12 to play is not eliminated in anyone's book.

Foxsports is where I got the 6 from. Red Sox definately aren't eliminated yet.

Glad the Yankees won yesterday, they seem to be over their mini-slump.

I am also glad to see Lester has nothing more then a bruise on his quadricep, as much as I hate the Red Sox, I never root for personal injuries like that. Especially after what Lester has already been through.

Anyone who looks cancer in the eye and walks away from it, is someone who I would pat on the back.

Would be nice, and especially to reach 100 wins again, in the same game. 1PM start, though. Rain? Clearing later; could be a long delay.

The Yankees win the AL East Couldn't have happened in a better fashion either. After losing 8 in a row to the Red Sox to start the season, they end up 9-9 and win the East with a series sweep of the Sox.

Now, the Yanks can take the week to rest some of their vets and come in strong vs the Tigers or Twins.

Go Yanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ewww.

Love the Yankee greats....but today you got Jeter and that closer. And then a bunch of hired guns.

Of course they'll win. They should have won the last 10 years.
