You gotta admit, if you like both sports (and you're not a NY fan)...
Football is more fun. Every team has an equal chance. Whether you're from Wisconsin or Kansas...your team has a fair chance. Its not just about who has the most money. Respect to the Yankees over the years for when they had the best team legit. But baseball is holding onto a thread just because its "America's game". How long will it last? The majority of people I know don't care about baseball anymore. |

Anyways, I feel bad to rain on the Yankee's fan parade...
But the Seahawks are playing right now, against Chicago...a huge market. And they have a chance...because both teams are equal financially. Its Sunday...that's why I jumped in on this Yankees thread. My apologies. |

Of the thirteen players who appeared in today's game for the Yankees, seven have played their entire MLB careers with the Yankees. Not exactly hired guns.

![]() Oh, as far as people caring about baseball and rooting for the Yankees, we are proud to provide you with this convenient thread to jump in on. It's convenient in that it's usually near the top of this board, rivaling the two soccer (sorry, le football) threads in numbers of posts and views.

Yep. Congratulations to the Yankees. They've had a superb end to the season considering their very early season form.
Though to be honest, I think their pitching has been more the cornerstone of their success than their batting - Jeter and Cano have had excellent seasons, Teix has shown flashes of brilliance, but A-Rod seems to be in a pick-up-the-pay-check mode and given the difference he shows between regular season and post-season the Yankees should possibly look at ditching the DH and letting the pitchers bat in their lineup (assuming there's a suitable backup 3B) ![]() If we both get to the ALCS (assuming those Rangers remember to lose occassionally!) I think you'll need to go to a new closer - as great as Rivera is, he's known to the Red Sox - he took the game last night to the edge getting runners to 2nd and 3rd with one out (I think).

You don't think the team that leads MLB in scoring by a wide margin but is only sixth in the AL in preventing runs owes their success to their offense?

I seriously disagree here.
The man missed 5 weeks and has 28 homeruns and 93 RBI. As overrated as RBI might be, think about that. He has played in 120 games and has 93 RBI. He is their best run producer. I don't think fans are as angry with ARod anymore as people may think. Of course, a good playoffs will get him over the postseason bump, but during the season, he continues to be their best production bat. I try to imagine what the Yankees would be like without Alex and they'd be nowhere close to this productive as an offensive unit.

I'd have to agree here. Also, he's gotten some clutch hits in some of the games down the stretch. Hopefully, he'll be able to keep it up in the post-season.

Things have come full circle for Chamberlain. I read he was booed off the mound yesterday after going just 3 2/3 innings again. Booed! By Yankees fans! Chamberlain!

Yeah, these Joba rules are really messing with him I think. If the Yanks put him back in the pen for the playoffs and he excels, there's gonna be a lot of pressure to leave him there next year.

There's a no win here. The Yankees babied him too much and now they are up against a wall. If he movies into the bullpen, as Joe just mentioned above, and excels, oh man, it's going to be 10x the never ending saga that it is now.
If the Yankees had just found a better way to manage his innings by planning ahead, they could have avoided this mess they are running into. Of course, Joba isn't helping himself out either by once again failing to be effective into the fifth inning. If it's going to be like this with the Yankees over doing this watchful eye, then just throw him in the pen. I'm absolutely tired of this whole ordeal. I'm so sick of watching Chamberlain throw too. I hear enough about him all week and now I have to see him struggle in 4 innings? I can't wait till Ian Kennedy learns how to hit the corner consistently. Telling you, that guy is better than Joba.

Well, guys, it's been one helluva year so far. Who would have thought they'd end up the season 103-59?
You have to hand it to Alex. Missed an entire month and still hit 30 HR's and drove in 100 runs. Needed 2 and 7 and got 'em in one inning today!

Amazing performance by Alex Rodriguez.
My brother and I spoke about him all month and his attempt to get to 30/100. We thought it wouldn't happen after the ordinary week he had. Amazing.

Going to be an interesting play-in to the playoffs. Obviously New York are going to go with CC in game 1 I imagine, Detroit/Minnesota are either going to have to put their #1 in the tiebreaker and only start with #2 against CC or put a lower starter in and risk them being knocked about in the playin.
