I think there was lack of perspective on both sides. Whether the government report holds truth or inaccuracies, Cohen should not have brought up the topic on the 20th anniversary of the tragedy. I feel that his comments were made in poor taste and seemed to target the Liverpool fans. If he believes that certain parties are at fault, that is fine, I just think it's lack in judgment to bring it up.

I'm afraid I cannot convince you, and so I'm done here. I just was upset when I first saw your post and had to share my 2 cents (okay, it was more like 4 cents). Have a nice day.

I never thought it was the totality of the LFC fanbase. I tried to make sure I said a few or a small percentage. Liverpool does seem to be a club that has a violent percentage of fans. One poster on these boards from the UK took a roadtrip to watch his team at Anfield. He was threatened with violence and chased.

This whole episode is unfortunate and its the worst case of a lose/lose outcome that I can remember. Fox Football Fonein is now horrible and there is no well informed deeply connected daily footie show.

You seemed to give the show a much better credit than most people.

"Well-informed deeply connected" are pretty significant praises.

Cohen does know his soccer and he did develop an extensive network of connections over the years.

Im hoping it will come back after the stupidity storm blows over.

On one Liverpool fan site; one really scary guy posted where he was in Mexico on his honeymoon and bragged that he sat across from them at a restaurant watching. This would definitely scare me. His new bride must think she is living in a slasher/stalker B movie.

United's kits are throwbacks to a kit in the distant past.

Yes I've done a runner across Stanley Park Although one of the reasons I dislike Liverpool fans specially the scouse variety is, is the fact there was a Liverpool fan at my old school used to go watch them every home game and most away games until some Liverpool fans beat him up just because he wasn't from Liverpool. Trust me when I say most die hard scouse Liverpool fans hate people who support Liverpool and don't live in Liverpool.

I wonder what makes these fans so violent? On the BigSoccer boards, one guy challenged some Liverpool fans to google Liverpool fan violent and Arsenal fan violent. There were several hits of violent behavior by Liverpool fans while the Arsenal results were violence against.

Their a few idiots who want to defend their club colours aka gang members in America, could ask why are gang members so violent. I mean how many people were stabbed in England yesterday but the one that makes the headlines is at a football game, far as I'm concerned theres no difference.

Thats a good point. There didnt seem to be anyone else hurt seriously so maybe the locals and police can take the hint and come up with some sensible security measures before someone gets killed.

If the other stabbings had taken place in the middle of a riot, they probably would have gotten the same headlines.

A stabbing is a stabbing, is one more persons life worth more than another ? imo doesn't matter where it happens it's just the same.

You don't get it. The stabbing isn't the story; the riot is. The stabbing is just the most serious result of the riot. If someone had been beaten to death in the riot, no one would have remarked on the stabbing. If no one had been stabbed, then the fires would have been the headline. Or the bricks being hurled. Or something. A thousand people brawling in the street is a story.

But this is my point exactly, a person got stabbed but they probably weren't the only person to be stabbed in England last night, it gets blown up out of proportion because it's a football game like were you state that "a thousand people brawling in the street" is blowing it out of proportion, there probably were thousands of people in the street but a small % involved in any fighting. I'd say at most 100-200 would have been fighting more than likely even less than that ammount, trust me I've been involved in football violence and this thousands of people go fighting at football matches is just a myth. When there is any fighting at football matches which occur less than what people would have believe you get 20-30 people fighting not thousands or even hundreds.
