That does sound interesting. Could you provide some more details please?

The link takes you to the league description in the OnLine league section, which describes the league.

What additional information can I provide?

Cheers

What is the pay scale like for the lower divisions in Europe? A friend who's not really into soccer was asking about the way the promotion/relegation system works, and whether it's simlilar paywise to the difference between MLB and minor leauge players, etc.

At about the sixth level down in England the players are semi-professional meaning they will have second jobs. If Football Manager is to be believed, player contracts go up 25% in their team is promoted. Hope UKHS sees this as he knows nuch more than I d about it.

As per the article linked:

The average stoppage time given at Old Trafford is 4th behind Liverpool, Chelsea, and Arsenal....................only 23 seconds more, on average, when United trails vs when they lead going into stoppage time.

I'd be interested in the averages for the other big boys.

Personally, I don't see what the avg time given matters. Each match has its own set of stoppage time, but whatever.

Without getting into the debate over 23 sec, the situation in the derby was explained by the FA official after the match. According to the rules (and yes only the referees have this document), in stoppage time 1 minute is added for each goal scored in stoppage time (there were two in the match) and 30 seconds for each sub (there was 1), so a minimum of 6 and a half minutes of stoppage time was required by rule (the original 4 plus these additions).

For a Geezer, Nikopolidis is playing about as well as any GK ever in his match against Arsenal. The Gunners could have 5 goals already.

US Striker Injured in Deadly GW Parkway Crash | NBC Washington

US National Team forward Charlie Davies was in a fatal car crash nearly 24 hours ago where he suffered a lacerated bladder, fractured tibia, femur, elbow and facial bones. He's lucky to be alive and have feeling throughout his body based on the wreckage.

Car crash means U.S. forward Charlie Davies probably will miss 2010 World Cup | The Fabulous Forum | Los Angeles Times

It's reportedly going to keep him out 6-12 months, which likely means he'll have to try to make his World Cup debut in 2014. Apparently he wasn't driving, but I thoroughly hope alcohol wasn't involved with whoever was. The other thought floating around the internet is if the US hadn't clinched a spot in the World Cup Saturday night, would this have happened and consequently would a woman still be alive?

as someone who has played against chuck and met him on one occasion im hoping he pulls through this. mind you this talk of him playing in the world cup next year is obsolete as he his injuries are a lot more serious than simply being in "stable condition". The most important thing is that he comes out of this alive and able to function. I don't think soccer is in the cards anymore.

ESPN has agreed a new multi-channel deal with FIFA to broadcast archive matches and programming from over 70 years of World Cup Finals.

Under the multi-year deal, ESPN and ESPN Classic will screen footage from the first World Cup tournament in 1930 right up to the most recent event in 2006.

From today, the channels will screen 150 classic matches, along with 14 official FIFA films dating from 1930 to 2002. Both channels will also carry the hour-long Top 20 FIFA World Cup Moments programme and the FIFA World Cup Stories six-episode series.

US eeked out a draw yesterday v Costa Rica.

What a horrific job of finishing, the US probably should have scored 4 or 5. Again, Landon Donovan disappoints, the equalizing goal coming from his corner kick notwithstanding.

It was a must win for CR and essentially an exhibition game for the US. We know how these kinds of games go in almost every sport. The US was also dealing with the distraction of the Davies tragedy. Donovan has been pretty good the last year, scoring some key goals. I thought he had been picking up his game.

He had 1 sure goal when he could have fed the ball to Casey, instead tried to score himself and mi**** the shot.

I believe Casey missed another that was pretty much a 1-on-1 with the keeper. Altidore as well.

The worst part was Onyewu blowing his knee out

Maybe the next time an over priced prima donna is rolling around faking injury he'll think about this.

Why?

To my football friends on here. Just to let you know I'm actually up for a college head coaching job, and I fly out to colorado on wednesday for my interview. It would be a full-time position that pays fairly well running a college soccer program year round etc. I'm excited about it and have my fingers crossed.
