Who's More Pathetic? Lions or Raiders

Both of these teams have the history and the fanbase opportunities to be a success. The Raiders have a distinctive image that is great for football, and passionate fans. The Lions have an entire industry following them and financing them. Both have had big name players in the past that will live on forever in the archives.

So which is the bigger flop in present time?

I've always heard the opinion that the Lions always draft WR's or QB's when the rest of their team has no foundation. And that the Raiders are obsessed with speed only nowadays.

I'm sure there's much much more to the demise of each franchise. And who is in a better position to turn it around as of today and into the future?

Weigh all this in when making your choice.

I voted Raiders. Al Davis' batcrap craziness tipped the scales for me.

The Lions know they suck, and hit bottom. The Raiders have not figured out they suck, nor have they bottomed out.

At least the Raiders have made it to the SB.
And haven't gone a full season without a win.

I voted Raiders for dealing their #1 pick for a guy who will help now instead of 3-4 years when they might actually be able to contend.

Lots of ignorance in this thread. Seymour could actually make the Raiders playoff contenders. They have a good young QB; a stud RB, the best bump and run CB in the league. If Seymour can actually help the run defense they could be good.

Obviously the winless Lions were more pathetic last season.

This poll is invalid as it doesn't include my Browns.

Look at their schedule, dude. With or without Seymour, they win 5 games.

The Raiders might as well wrap things up now and not bother to play the season. The Oracle has spoken. Every season there are teams who do better than predicted. Who had the Cards in the Super Bowl last season?

I guess we should end all debate and prognostication about sports, too. Crap, there goes sports radio!

Its all good. It seems like many posters in this thread are forgetting that the Raiders have some very good pieces. Their season can be very good or very bad. To say that they are pathetic is, well...pathetic.

People are calling the ownership and coaching pathetic more than they are the players. Management of that team is a circus.

wheres this good young qb? i sure know you arent talking about russell. and who is the stud rb? i just saw three average backs in the rotation for them last season.

sure, russell has potential to become good and dmac could be a stud, but none of this has happened yet..

Both teams are pathetic, but how the hell did Raiders rank #1 in 2008 payroll at $152m?

Great point and just to add to this....

This is the exact reason guys like Seymour dont want to play for this organization. You cant get any player to go to Oakland unless they are just about the money and if they are just about the money they likely arent the best players to build a team around. It all starts with trust in the system and right now you'd have to be crazy to trust anything the Raiders do.

As much I wanted to vote for the Raiders in the poll my conscience wouldnt let me so I am undecided. I think the Lions are more pathetic because they are dealt a crap hand while Oakland was dealt with much better situation for a franchise and completely messed it up. Raiders should be able to get players on history alone but that history has long been forgotten.

Where have you gone Brian Sipe? Bernie Kosar, a tired Browns Nation turns its eyes back to you. The Pruitts Two, Mack would do, oh for the Kardiac Kids we knew! (And a tear for that "Red Right 88" they threw.) Ozzie, Logan, Rucker, Slaughter, and Brennan. Thom, Lyle, Frank Min, Hanford, and Clay (a pox on the Broncos and John Elway.)

They went to Baltimore and won a Super Bowl.
