So, positives... the team moved the ball, scored some touchdowns. The defense played the best they've played all year. As it turns out, Harrison's fumble loomed as the biggest play. Edwards was nowhere to be seen. He dropped two passes early and then wasn't even a part of the game plan the rest of the way. Massaquoi turned in a star making performance. Hopefully he continues to improve. Too many drops overall.

Yeah, definitely looked like a more interested, aggressive, and competitive team. D.A. is definitely a streak passer, so I could see the team reeling off a few surprise wins, or at least remaining competitive when/if he gets hot. Bit, "IF", though. Got to cut down the drops. Still not sure I wouldn't have let Quinn ride it out, just to confirm that he was definitely not the answer (since I am mostly positive that D.A. is not the answer either.)

The defensive effort was definitely the bright spot of the day (Massaquoi not withstanding).

Still, it would not surprise me if they traded Quinn. I never understood the point of beginning the year with both of them in camp. We did not need another QB controversy.

Yes, a loss is a loss, but today we got some offense and Browns fans can put up with losses as long as the team goes down kicking and clawing. With DA you at least get the feeling that on any given play he can air it out and make the big play.

But I agree that Quinn should have had the whole season to prove himself. As it is, their indecision on who will be 'the guy' is ruining whatever NFL career Quinn might have had. It's not fair to Quinn or to Anderson.

Harrison was a monster today. Massaquoi also. Cribbs...just another day at the office. I hope they give him a new contract.

This is another thing that Quinn fans will say, that perhaps if Quinn had a 100 yard rusher, like DA did today, that he could have moved the offense better, as well. I can see the point. Who knows, though, since Quinn never got that opportunity.

As for the loss, it's not as though the Browns didn't have their chances to put this game away, thanks to a fumbled kickoff return and several great Josh Cribbs kick and punt returns. You can't keep leaving points on the field, and settling for field goals in the red zone instead of touchdowns will inevitably come back to haunt you.

Yeah, I know the Rams scored a grand total of 7 points the first 2 weeks. Cant remember the 3rd week somehow. If the Browns were to have the Rams on the schedule they could ensure avoiding 0-16. Sorry, Rams fans.

If the Browns can get even a similar offensive performance some weeks and somewhere in between the first 3 weeks and this week defensively, there's no way they go 0-16. 1-15 could be a strong possibility, but not 0-16.

Okay, so it's one thing to go without a catch for the first time as a pro, as Braylon Edwards did on Sunday. It's another thing entirely to, after going catchless, punch a good friend of the most popular athlete in Cleveland. The idiot that is Braylon Edwards is now a New York Jet:

Cleveland Browns trade Braylon Edwards to Jets | Cleveland Browns - cleveland.com - - cleveland.com

Am I the only one that has noticed that WRs seem to be on average the most arrogant and or prone to moronic behavior of any positon in the sport

Holy hell, Rob Ryan was right. He said today that Cincinnati's game winning field goal in OT Sunday was no good. Looking at the video, he's right. Here is a link:

Cleveland Browns defensive coordinator Rob Ryan says Cincinnati Bengals missed game-winning field goal Sunday | Cleveland Browns - cleveland.com - - cleveland.com

The field goal is at the upright at the 5:28 mark of the video. Pause it just as it as it gets near the left upright and you clearly see it pass in front of the upright and not behind it, as it should if it were good.

This would have only meant a tie, sure. But my beef is with this line of the story I linked to:

Quote:
The field judge standing right underneath the upright called it good, and we have reviewed multiple video from different angles and seen nothing to dispute the call.
How is the video in the story itself conclusive evidence to dispute the call? I realize you might not want to open a can of worms so long after the game, but the we've "seen nothing to dispute the call" excuse is asanine.

EDIT: After watching it on NFL.com which is a little better quality, it's hard to say. I couldn't exactly tell.

Where are you guys? I thought you guys won?

Or was Anderson's day too painful to talk about?

(sorry, I had to do it)

I went down to Buffalo to see a concert today. The band made a joke about the Bills losing to the browns. Someone in the crowd yelled "Too soon!"

Just never got the chance to really wax poetic about the game. I shall now, though.

In a battle of titans, the offensive juggernaut that is the Cleveland Browns won 6-3. Sure, I'm thrilled about it. We Browns fans haven't been able to celebrate a win in nearly a year. And despite the low score, there were some positives. The defense played pretty well again. They were able to get just enough pressure on Edwards to make him force some throws. Dave Zastudil was (as my little brother used to say) the bomb-diggity. 7 punts inside the 20? 3 inside the 5? That's making the most of a bad situation (i.e. having to punt in the first place).

Still, though, this game was heading toward another overtime letdown until Miami alumn Rosco Parrish made a bonehead play and Blake Costanzo was there to pick up the ball. Is it me, or is this guy always where the ball is on special teams?

DA... 2-17. Are you f'n kidding me? I realize that you had a pretty stiff wind to deal with and that there were a number of drops. That doesn't excuse a 2-17. There weren't 10 drops. And those DA lovers on the Cleveland.com boards are the most hippocritical folks I've ever seen. Quinn throws behind a receiver? He sucks, put DA in. Quinn has his pass deflected at the line of scrimmage? He sucks, put DA in. Quinn has receivers drop the ball? He still sucks, put DA in. Brady has a QB rating of 62.9 without a 100-yard rusher? He sucks, put in DA. However, now that DA has a QB rating of 39 this year, WITH the benefit of a 100-yard rusher in the last two games, the excuses are that the playcalling was bad or that the receivers couldn't hang on to the ball, it was windy, etc.

Their numbers this season, each playing 2 1/2 games:

Quinn 60.8%, 5.41 YPA, 1 TD, 3 INT, 10 sacks, 26 long
Anderson 46.4%, 4.57, 1 TD, 5 INT, 4 sacks, 30 long

For somebody that is supposed to open up the offense more, DA is average almost a full yard per attempt less than Quinn. Some out there may call me what those on the Cleveland.com message boards call anybody that defends Brady Quinn, a Quinnbot. However, I can assure you I am not. I didn't want us to draft him when we did, I didn't think he was going to have an NFL arm. But once we got him, and after seeing what DA can do for the last couple of years, I felt we should give Quinn a chance. I'm a defender of numbers, not players, in this instance. I'd have loved to have seen how Quinn would have done with back to back 100-yard rushers. Sadly, that won't happen because it appears that Anderson has a lot longer leash than Quinn did.

DA is "just a winner", Bob. At least for one week. What have you done for me lately and all that...

I agree re: Quinn, of course.

A win is a win, though. Take 'em where you can get 'em, because, alas, Roscoe Parrish doesn't play on any Browns' opponent but the Bills. Dick Jauron surely a 'dead' man walking now, right? Another future head coach of the Cleveland Browns.

Both teams should have been awarded a loss IMO.
