But back on topic, I'm hoping AJ pitches well tomorrow. It sure would be nice to close out the series in 5 games and finally get the Angel's monkey off our back.

Except for jbergey, nobody's talking about the fantastic playoffs performance by A-Rod. We dumped on him when he was down in past years, he deserves credit now. He and CC are leading the team to the Promised Land this year.

I'm guilty of dumping on A-Rod in the past, but probably not as much as other Yankee fans. From 2005-2007 he was just horrible in the postseason, and it seemed like every time he opened his mouth he put his foot in it. It was a rough beginning of the year, but maybe he just needed to go through that. Maybe he just needed to get his first hit, I don't know.
He just looks so confident stepping to the plate each time up, and boy is he killing the ball. 8 games in a row with an RBI in the playoffs. 5 home runs. Its just been fun to watch. He deserves a lot of credit. I heard yesterday that both Jeter and A-Rod were playing with flu like symptoms. CC has been great too. I didn't expect what he did yesterday on 3 days rest. No offense to Wang, but it feels good to have an ace to rely on. Of course, as Joe Torre's favorite co-writer at SI reminds us today, A-Rod and CC are 0-7 when one win away from the World Series. Of course this team feels different than the teams of the past that where you knew once they got down they weren't coming back. I can't wait until Game 5!

this years team is much more relaxed than the ultra-serious teams of recent years. guys like swisher, burnett, and cc have come in and loosened up the clubhouse. the younger guys, melky and cano, both good guys that just play for the love of the game and are genuinly fun guys. i think this could have something to do with keeping arod loose whereas in years past he was so tight and afraid of making a mistake.

This is great for getting ARod back in the discussion of the best players to ever play the game which will hopefully make HOF voters forget about the steroid history to an extent. If he isnt let in the HOF I will stop putting any merrit in it. It would lose all prestige in my mind. Some of you disagree Im sure but Bonds and Clemens need to in as well. Take away his home run records if you want but put him in there. He was a 3 time MVP before roids were an issue I believe. And rocket Roger was one of the best pitchers to ever pitch. It would be stupid to not put these three in.

Both made dumb decisions as they got older and they were HOFers before they ballooned or started throwing broken bats, so I'd agree.
A-Rod has plenty of career left being monitored for steriod use, so I'm sure he'll be able to make his case clear. Currently, he's the Yankees MVP of the post-season.

24 vs 33 years of age as well...........the difference in these pix is not near the diff in, say Bonds' photos from early career to late (and others too), IMO. I don't see the swelled head or extensively thick chest that Bonds displayed. Not dismissing what he admitted to doing. I'm just saying the changes arent near as dramatic as in others. I'm bigger than I was at 24 as well and I've never taken roids. Last edited by Cooleyvol; 10-22-2009 at 11:49 AM. |

Yeah, I always tried to give Bonds the benefit of the doubt but it sure did seem he turned into the "Hulk". I'm to the point where I couldn't care less about the "roid" issue. I'm over it...

I'm not getting terribly excited about anything until the last out, but I am thrilled that the Angels seem to be more relaxed than they've been since the Red Sox series. Hope the hits keep on coming...

Mathis could be a starter elsewhere possibly, but overall, Napoli is probably a bit better. |
