True. I guess it depends on what you consider dirty. I just dont see the play as being dirty. Just overaggressive. If he had hit the guy in the helmet or from behind i could see it as dirty.

They seem to know them all when it comes to the raiders. Tuck rule, Murphy td call back etc. Not saying those were wrong but pretty sure they wouldnt have been called on a lot of other teams. I will always be convinced the tuck play would have never even been reviewed if it been some other tesms. But oh well.

Yes for real. I see nothing more wrong with this than someone horsecollaring someone. This person got thrown out and missed the rest of the game. Seems like a just penalty to me.

![]() Granted, I never played football above high school level, but I doubt that at some point in college or the NFL he was taught that the proper way to make a tackle is to leap as high as you can. You only do that when your intent is to harm. That crap has no place in sports.

Decent point, but a horse-collar often IS an accident where you're just grabbing for anything. When you come flying through the air...that's different.

Yeah, that can be accidental. If he had just tried to wrap up the returner with a standard tackle it wouldn't have been nearly as bad. It's partly because everyone is trying to cause a fumble on plays like these that these harder tackles happen.

That pic is what happened after the collison. Slow it down and it shows that wesely lowered his arms and brought them back up before he he leaped into the tackle. No more higher than normal tackles. He was not aiming at the head but the chest which is where his arm made contact. He went finished the tackle like most players do. Yes his elbow caught Smith's jaw but that was because he was just finishing the hit. He wasnt going for the head. He wasnt even looking where his elbow hit. Its just that Smith wasnt looking either. If the football was there nobody would be complaining. At the most a penalty because his elbow caught the guys jaw but it doesnt look to me like the player intended to hurt Smith. If he intended to harm Smith he did a pretty poor job. He could have injured the guy a lot worse. An illegal hit but certainly not dirty. |

Actually, I was talking about the last version I played (2003, I think). (not so) Nice to know EA has continued their policy of 1 step forward, 3 steps back. ![]() But, I am a bit of a freak, because I am more for realistic gameplay than "the graphics sher look purdy".
