Howard and ARod are both having a great postseason. I believe as a lineup right now the Phillies seem to have more of their players on their game therefore Ill pick them. Yankees have Tex and Damon stuggling right now.

The bullpen for the Phillies does scare me but all things considered the Yankees isnt near as dominant as its made out to be other than the best closer in baseball history.
This is an interesting match-up summary. Looks pretty even, the way you present it here. I think the Yankees have the edge further down the lineup and on the bench, however.

Lee owned us tonight. Bullpen failed us. Girardi gave up in the 9th when he put in Bruney who wasn't even worthy of a roster spot for the first 2 rounds and was inconsistant the few times he was healthy during the season.

I do question some of the calls in the 8th however when Hughes and Robertson walked those guys. Pitches looked pretty close and they were calling a pretty loose strike zone. Woulda loved Fox to show off their favorite strike zone toy that they enjoy all game long, although Buck and McCarver hate the yanks so not a shocker.

forgot to mention it but great game by the phills. they took advantage of their opportunities(other than the 1st) and we couldn't get anything going. Hopefully we bounce back in game 2 vs Pedro, need good AJ and not inconsistant/wild AJ.

Fox needs more splitcam views of Jeter. That was a clutch run-scored-on-error at the end there.

Had to be one of the best post season and world series performances I've ever seen. I would think back to beckett in 03 but for some reason lee's stuff right now seems even better. I don't really think it's fair to blame girardi or what the yanks did or didnt do tonight, no team in the league on their best day would be able to match the stuff lee has right now. As far as everything else goes the phillies did well offensively and all the pressure now falls on the yankees. If they pull one out tomorrow with pedro then i wouldnt be suprised if the brooms come out. the yankees are a great team in their own right but i just dont see them beating the phils. i still say they will get a game in though and will stick with my original predicition of phils in 5.

If yer refering to my comment on girardi, imo, giving up when he put in bruney, maybe its just that I dont trust bruney but when I saw him warming up in the pen I just got the feeling that girardi gave up on us coming back and figured hed hope bruney could get through the inning and not haveto use another reliever that he actually values. Although so far, our supposed great pen has been looking shakey these past few games. Hopefully we can get Pedro's pitch count up quick tomorrow night and get into that Phillies pen and see what shape its in.

Oh brother. What a load of junk. They didn't run the strike zone on Marte's questionable calls against Utley either. But Yankee whining sure is fun to listen to.

I agree, those pitches were all balls. However, at least live the pitches from Hughes seemed to be right on the border or strikes. With how often Fox went to replay pitches and showoff their fox tracker or whatever they call their strike zone cam, and how big those walks were, they could have replayed them, even after the at-bats or when they showed hughes coming off the field yelling at the ump over the calls. Thats all I wanted, to get a replay and see wether they really were off the plate or not. It felt like most of the night the strike zone was on the large side for both teams and those borderline pitches were being called strikes until those 2 at-bats. Idk, maybe I was just frustrated. Again, all I wanted was a replay that they were so willing to give all night except then.

Regarding the Buck/McCarver comments. McCarver was fired by the yankees so im sure that hasto play somewhat into his feelings toward the team. Buck I was told was affiliated or had been with the Red Sox, I tried checking on that real quick but wasn't finding anything. If he had been, he'll also be at least semi-biased against them, if not then I was mis-informed.

Also, how was I "whining"? My first words were that Lee owned us. I then followed up my post saying the phills played great, took advantage of their opportunities and we couldn't get anything going.

You were misinformed. The only team he's been affiliated with is the Cardinals.

As for the Fox Trax thing, I admit I wasn't paying attention to every pitch, but I never saw them use the strike zone tracker at all during the game, only the pitch speed part. It had me thinking that MLB had asked them not to use it or something.

I wasn't paying total attention to how often it was used, however it was definatly used for the Marte/Utley at bat(which was right after the 2 Hughes AB's) to show that the pitches were all off the plate, altho called strikes.
