What sports would you consider to be safe and what sports would you consider to be dangerous ?

List 3 safe sports and 3 dangerous sports ( or more if you want too ! )

Obviously all sports carry a risk, but some are more dangerous then others. For example, rugby is a lot more dangerous then ballroom dancing.

That and ballroom dancing isnt' really a sport as to more a leisure activity, with hopefully attractive company.

Every sport is dangerous, in a way. It all depends on your threshold of danger really

Ballroom dancing is very much a sport, and it's full of serious injuries. You might not know about ballroom dancing competitions, but you can look at how competitive and dangerous Dancing with the Stars sometimes can be.

It would probably depend on what your take on dangerous is, if it's which sport are you most likely to get injured in then probably boxing would be the highest rated. If it's which sport as most deaths then I'd probably say runnng/jogging/marathons no doubt theres a few people who die during all the marathons/half marathons that are held through out the year around the world.

Dangerous (injury wise)

Boxing
Rugby
Any driving sports.

Safest

Chess
Bowls
Snooker/Pool
Darts

Although according to the National Center for Catastrophic Sports Injury Research at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the most dangerous sport is "cheerleading"

Cheerleading Danger

Although this one gives it to cave diving.

Maybe cave diving ?

Although most died outside of their sport this was interesting, one thing I would advise and that is if your an NFL player do not get into a car.

Sports people who died during their career

I'll stick with "normal" sports:

Dangerous:
• Football
• Hockey
• Boxing

Safest:
• Golf
• Swimming
• Softball

During the third round of the The Open Championship at Royal Birkdale in 1991, Richard Boxall was just two strokes off the lead when he suffered a stress fracture of his left leg while playing his tee shot on the ninth hole.[1]

That was pretty much my point earlier. Some folks would say that incident would slate T&F as dangerous, while others would only include the decent certainty of death as a borderline.

Plus the number of golfers struck by lightning is higher than (I'd bet) any other sport.

If it's safe, it's not a sport - it's a game.

Sounds like you need to fire up a "What is a sport?" thread, if one hasn't been created already, and go to town.

There are all kind of definition of sport, and by most of them, competitive ballroom dancing would be considered a sport. It's similar to a lot of competitions in Olympics.
